Today, norton keep shutting it self down(the process), and starting itself back again. Which made a lot of things on my computer crush. Anyone have experienced that today?
Thank you for the confirmation. We really appreciate it. And thank you for your patience.
Should this issue recur, please create a new thread, so it is easy for us to track.

It's been 48 hours now and I haven't even rebooted and I am happy to report the patch seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks again to everyone involved!
Hot-fix seems to have solved the problem of Norton 360 crashing and closing upon trying to run a backup. Was able to successfully run backup today after applying the hot fix. Thanks to Gayathri_R and all involved in the Community.
Applied the patch. Looks to have fixed the issue. I was finally able to perform a backup without Norton crashing.
Ran live update and received a "patch" which views as a revocation list? Evidently the "patch" is silent without any logging of its contents. An earlier automatic LU session however, had 4 downloads of which 1 was an NGC product update. Confused about which update was the "hotfix" lol. Nevertheless KUDOS out to the team and Gayathri_R for the release. Time will tell.

After the successful application of the patch, I really hope it fixes our problem. Will let you all know in a couple of days....
Many thanks to Gayathri_R and members of the forum!
All Best,

Thanks so much for this quick action!
I will not get too excited until some time has gone by using the system so I can ensure Norton is stable again, but I am hopeful and will update here in either case. If I get no issues for 24-48 hours I will report back success and if it crashes again any time soon I will report that here as well.
Many thanks again to Gayathri_R and everyone else who helped including all of you here in the forum!
Thank you!
I also revied the hotfix, lets hope it is fixed :)
Thanks, Gayathri. Can you confirm what the issue was?
Hi,
We apologise for the inconvenience caused. We have released a Hotfix to correct this issue. Please run LiveUpdate, and apply the patch. Kindly let us know should this issue recur. Thank you.

If it crashes again, I'm probably just going to activate Windows Defender or something.
I suspect this problem is complex enough that a 'quick fix' may not be feasible. In other words they may need to do hundreds of hours of testing and unless more people step up willing to do remote sessions and submit logs, this issue could linger for months. On that note I urge all of you to consider other options if need be. I've been a loyal Norton user for almost 20 years and I have it on multiple machines. Only 1 of them exhibits these crashes so far so if I do switch from Norton it will only be on the affected machine for now.
I'm aware of the options, but unsure which I'll choose. What antivirus do you guys suggest?
In a previous post I mentioned I had disconnected my PC from all networks due to not feeling safe with these Norton 360 crashes. Since disconnecting from all networks, Norton 360 hasn't crashed. Reconnect to networks, crash. Could this be related to some sort of network activity? Wonder if someone else could try this and feed back.
@aarogree Yeah I have same feeling after this constants bugs make me consider to switch for something like Bitdefender. Probably gonna do this after me license expire in few months.
All: Finally had the chance to dig deeper into one of my gaming machines. Event logs show numerous Norton Security stop and start services at hours of the night when I am sleeping. Event ID's are 34/35/37. Doing a bit further research, I DO have an SSD as my C:\ drive which is not being optimized or error checked by Norton or Windows. One thing popped up which is "Intel Optane Pinning Explorer Extensions". I DO NOT have Optane memory nor an Nvme boot cache chip installed on the system. I DO have the driver package version 16.8.3.1003 installed. This article, says it is also related to Intel Rapid Storage Technology and the errors can be triggered even if you don’t have any Optane memory installed. This is interesting as @AJR78 has mentioned this in an earlier posting. Although the error mentioned is not being seen on this computer the Windows Explorer restarts are the results of this software attempting to perform actions on my SSD when it should not. Windows updates appears to be the culprit since it cannot distinguish whether Optane is actually present but DOES detect the SSD it will install a default driver package with these drivers. In step #4, I uninstalled the driver package shown there. I will monitor for a couple of days and post back changes, if any in the event logs.
Thought I'd share this with everyone although, it may not be applicable since not everyone would have the same hardware nor configurations. IMA. that I have removed the Intel Rapid Storage Technology packages on some other systems in the past and it is not on this system, as it was known to cause issues with installation of Windows 10 being flagged as incompatible. IF, any of you remove this package please understand you do so at your own risk.

I just started my computer up, and for the first time, Norton refused to start with it.
This is getting so out of hand I am honestly considering canceling my subscription and buying a different Antivirus.
I've been using Norton products since Peter Norton himself ran it and have never had problems until Lifelock bought it. I am in the same boat as the other posters except mine crashes when trying to back up to external disks.
Its not "users end and not specifically windows or norton". It's in the nature of PCs for each users machine to be different and for Windows to change over time and so we expect Norton - which is a paid for product - to keep up with changes and respond to problems if they appear after an update.
When the error message says "The Norton Security service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 120000 milliseconds: Restart the service" its bound to make us worry that protection is being compromised.
