Hi,

I am interested in the possibility of using the Norton Smartphone Security product for my company because I want an antivirus and firewall solution all in one product, however I am a little worried about the sophistication of the firewall portion of the product. The manual says very little (nothing?) about the firewall software.

What kind of user configuration can be done on this firewall? Or does it only have some standard default settings that the user must be happy with? Any info/links to info on this would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike

I would like to be able to set up rules based on protocols, ports, and urls. Is that possible?

Mike

Maybe you can find something over here?

Stu,

thanks for your response. I looked at the document for the windows mobile version, and unfortunately, found almost nothing about the firewall features of the software.

Thanks again,

Mike

Unfortunately I haven't been able to test it myself. So I'm not sure. I have been able to test the mobile firewall from another vendor. That wasn't that complete you asked for.

I will ask someone of the Symantec team.

Thanx for your question, I'm learning here as well

Thanks Stu

Mike,

The Norton version currently only uses a simple firewall with 4 settings:

Off

Low

Medium
High

If you're looking for a corporate solution I would look to Symantec Mobile Security which has greater configurability around rules within the firewall as well as the ability to push out new policies as an Endpoint solution.  For more information on that, I'd check out the Enterprise forum/sales.

What would you like to see?
