My computer responds very slowly at times. I've checked in Task Manager (I'm running Win 8.1) and it's generally Norton Security with Backup taking 100% of the disk resources. This happens for HOURS. I've tried not using my computer, not having any programs running to allow whatever Norton is doing to complete, but since this happens several times a week it's just not practical. The only work around I've found is to put Norton into silent mode while I do whatever it is I need my computer for, but it's annoying to have to do that several times a day. What is causing Norton to be such a resources hog? Shouldn't it recognize when I'm using my computer (surfing internet, word processing or what have you)?
As I type this my disk resources are at 100%.
I saw another post that mentioned there might be a problem with my harddrive so a chkdsk should be run, but I did that and the problem did not resolve at all. It took over 5 hours to complete the chkdsk!
