Norton Tech Support for NIS removed several of my software programs

I recently had a very frustrating NIS install that did not work, after repeated efforts was finally able to have a Norton Tech remote in and they were very helpful and were able to remove the number of stumbling blocks that were keeping me from a proper activation.  They were even generous and bump my subscription up to offset the time I was without correct subscription.

As part of this process the tech asked if I would like them to remove the temporary files (something I do fairly regularly, just had not in a while so I said sure).

However, a couple of days later, I noticed that I no longer could open Illustrator 9.0, my system only showed our older version of 7.0, which now crashes.  Tonight I discovered that EXCEL was also removed in this process. I shudder to thin what else is missing but I am to tired to figure it out right now. Just mad enough  to at least see if this can be solved though a forum.

What does one do when whole programs are removed. I feel like a total idiot. The one moment in 7 years that I was actually pleased with Norton has now been shatterd and the two programs I used most I cannot run. Is there any way to get my software back? Is it common to offere to "clean up temporary files" and what is the standard practic for such support?
