Norton Toolbar disappears when new tab is opened in Chrome + Norton button is inactive

Hi, when I open a new tab in Google Chrome, the Norton Toolbar disappears and the Norton button to the far right is inactive.

This makes Identity Safe practically unusable, because the only way to select a website from the Identity Safe dropdown menu is to either open a brand new window or to leave the site on the already open window.

What I need is to have one window with a lot of tabs open, each with one of my Identity Safe sites.

I have tried clicking the Norton button to the far right, but it is inactive.

The only options I get for the add on are activate/deactivate and remove.

Does anyone know how to fix this bug?

Thank you!

Hi Saraelizabeth,

Welcome to Norton Community,

Could you provide following information to know more about the issue.

1.Product version(You can find it in NIS mainUI->Support->About), Chrome version, OS version?

2.Are you facing same issues with IE/FF?

Thanks,

Senthil

Hi,

In Chrome Norton ToolBar will be loaded only if you load webpage, On launching a "Nwe Tab" will not load the ToolBar for you.

From the new Tab that you had launched please browse to some site and check whether Norton ToolBar is getting loaded.

If the Norton ToolBar is still not loaded even after browsing to a webpage, the please click on the "Norton ToolBar Button" to load the Norton ToolBar. From the Norton ToolBar you will have options to launch "Identity Safe", "SafeWeb" features.

Hi Senthil,

Here is the information you requested.

NIS: 19.2.0.10

Chrome: 15.0.874.121 m

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

And no, I do not have the same problem in Internet Explorer or Firefox (both of which I also use). But Chrome is my preferred browser and I have been holding off using it while waiting for the Norton Toolbar to be compatible.

Please let me know what you find out.

Thanks so much,

Sarah

Hi viveksu,

I followed your instructions and yes, the Norton Toolbar shows  up as soon as I navigate to a webpage on the new tab.

Thank you - this workaround will make it possible to use Chrome while waiting for the real fix!

Many thanks for your assistance and solution,

Sarah
