Norton toolbar extension in google chrome

When setting up a new user in Windows 8 with the latest Norton    and Chrome Version 31.0.1650.63 m,

I could not get Norton Identity Protection 2014.6.2.3 to install and finally came across this article explaining that Google has increased security and now only allows extensions throough the Chrome store.

The odd thing is this was working fine on my other Windows User account with same versions of Norton Toolbar, Identity Safe and same version of Chrome.

In the reviews section at the Chrome store a User had posted a way to manually install the Norton extension in Chrome. It works!

I am running Windows 8.1 and it now works fine follwing this install method.

SOLUTION

IT DOES WORK!! If the toolbar doesn't appear for you in chrome,You will find the NIS Chrome extension in this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\Engine\xx.x.x.xxxx\extensions

where the x's represent your NIS version number. Drag the chrome.crx file you find in that folder into a Chrome window (the Extensions tab would be best), Chrome should then prompt you to open it and install it.

Hope this helps.
