A website I work on is distorted when viewed through a browser where Norton Toolbar is enabled.
Are there guidelines to follow in creating webpages, so the layout will not be affected by Norton Toolbar? If so, that would be extremely awesome AND the exact information I need totally!!!!
One thing I tried was to leave the top 300 pixels blank on all the pages on the website. Works perfect. The page content starts 300 pixels down the page. I can provide the html/css for the div if anyone is interested, but that really goes beyond the scopes entailed by this forum. It's basically like this <div style="height: 300px;width:100%;"></div>, but it also works with vh instead of px, if you want your page to be responsive.
Using this method, which I developed myself and share here freely, confines distortionals to the no-man's land in the 300px band across the top of the page. ** styl'n **
Any distortion in there can't be seen, because it is all blank! It makes the distortion blank, so you cannot see it! :-D
It works perfect for people using Norton toolbar, but other visitors to the site are sending my supervisor discouraging feedback, saying the top 300 pixels should not be blank. Even though they are just whining, I am not in position to ignore their mean complaints, because our SEO ranking already is not at the level desired by those who pay the bills! We all know how that is!
I am wondering if there is something I can do to put the content of my page right at the top, and still be sure Norton Toolbar, a most excellent and exemplary product, can operate without being falsely implicated as a cause of distortion. I can't believe people would say the toolbar causes the distortion, instead of their failure to make web pages properly. I want to make my pages properly, so I hope someone can help me out.
Tech support at Norton referred me to Mozilla and Microsoft for their assistance on working their browsers, but those guys told me I should post the problem here for communalism, for which I am grateful, and thank each and every one of you, regardless of race, color, creed, or ***ual orientation. Feels good being where I have been referred by exemplaries of such eminent stature.
