I am using NIS 22.5.2.15 from Comcast, and Win 7 Pro. Last few days odd behavior has started. I cannot say it clearly started with the upgrade to NIS/NAV/N360 22.5.2.15, which took place automatically three or so weeks ago, but I have not really used the computer much since the upgrade either. When I first boot the computer all is fine. But after about 20 mins of idle, NIS360.exe starts running taking 8-25% of my CPU resources. Once started I cannot interrupt it. It will run steadily for hours doing I am not sure what, but I can tell from Task Manager and the Norton resources graph that it is the only program running. In addition I have 16 GB of memory and usually only 3 GB is ever used, but when NIS 360 starts running, rapidly all of the physical memory up to 16 GB gets used up. Then the computer becomes unusable, with no free memory and I have to reboot and the process starts over. Quick scans and detailed scans run normally when invoked manually before memory gets filled up. The hard disk is not in need of being defragmented, that is not what it is doing.
No obvious hardware errors detected.
Before NIS360.exe starts on its own, the computer appears to function normally
I have scanned multiple times and use Norton Power Eraser and found no viruses.
Not sure if this is a bug in NIS, or what to do.
Thanks,
Greg
