Dear Forum Members
I am a NU14 user and there is always something that has bothered me about this product, i.e. whenever I use the “Clean Your Disk” option NU finds 10 – 15 objects to clean from my IE8.0 browser. Even though I do not ever use IE8.0 or use any other product that uses IE8.0 as an engine.
The only browsers I use are the latest versions of Opera and Firefox so I guess that those 10 – 15 objects are either false positives or IE8.0 is communicating with the Internet without me knowing about it.
As for NU15, it seems that this product now has the utilities that Norton System Works used to have and I have to wonder why these utilities were not in NU14 in the first place.
It would be great if someone could explain my two queries.

Hi,
can you please tell us which Windows OS and Service Pack do you use?
On the IE temps I would say first that some Windows service communicates with it. My first guess would be Windows Update. I don't know if in Vista/7 it has changed, but in XP and before it was based fully on IE, and it downloads data from the web via IE's services.

Hello, I don't know if it is the whole reason but from what I was reading the difference between this release and others are two fold. The one you mentioned with other features being added. The second is that the v15 release is not one that needs to be paid yearly. (Non-perpetual license I think it was called). I would summize that some may not wish to pay yearly for some of the new features especially when some of them are already integrated with other Symantec products. And I am sure it does not hurt a program to add features to it :)
Oops incorrect. Sorry. Upon another user letting me know and re-reading the information I am wrong about it ever being a yearly paid service.
Upon reading the messages at: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Norton-360-and-Norton-Utilities/m-p/212628#M29486 it basically looks like Norton SystemWorks was discontinued shortly after Norton Utilities came out.
So I would assume that since the features in NSW were no longer available they were integrated into NU. I'm sorry for the incorrect statement before and as a result the erroneous assumption as a result.
Take care.
