I have NU 15 version 15.0.0.122 on disc purchased with Norton Internet Security 3 PC licence.
It has installed successfully on a laptop with W7 Home Premium 32 bit with SP1 and a laptop with W7 Home Premium 64 bit with SP1.
I tried to install on my PC with W7 Pro 64 bit and it appeared to install successfully. The Norton splash screen appeared with the only option of clicking the button to "Update" On clicking, my computer then froze - no mouse or keyboard, not even Ctrl/Alt/Del. Only the mains power button had any effect.
On turning on again, my PC works OK apart from NU. Clicking on the NU 15 icon/Norton Utilities 15 menu option/nu.exe causes the PC to freeze.
Attempting to uninstall via Control Panel or the NU 15 uninstall application gives the Error message "The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program." The application does not uninstall. Attempting to re-install with the original disc produces the same results as above.
I can not find any error messages save in a relevant file with a .dmp or .mdmp extension.
How do I resolve this situation?
I have a fairly new self-built PC with corei5 processor, 8GB of RAM, 1TB hard disc drive. Although I have McAfee Internet Security installed, the Anti-Virus was disabled when I tried to install NU 15 and no other applications were running.
