Norton Utilities 16 : Speed Disk and SSD's

Hello!

I've been using Norton products for years, and have just upgraded Norton Utilities to version 16.    Given I have a SSD for my boot/OS drive, speed disk complains when I try to run it.

I expect that there was a setting in NU 15 where I could simply uncheck a box so that Speed Disk would not run on the SSD.   NU 16 does not seem to have such a settting.   If that is the case then NU 16 is a lot less useful then I would hope.

Please either tell me how to turn off Speed Disk for a particular drive, or correct the program so that it is possible to do so.....

P.S.  I am not talking simply about "Smart Defrag", but about the ability to turn on or off Speed Disk for a particular drive.  SSD's are rather common these days, this should be a common feature request.

assistance would be much appreciated......

Win 8 Pro (64 bit) & NU 16

Hey Bh,

I'm finding this out for you. I'll let you know what I find.

thank you Skreddy,

What I have found is that while there is no check box, you can click on a particular drive and run speed disk on just that drive.   That means that NU 16 CAN work for me.

I would like to make a couple of suggestions.   Given that SSD's are becoming quite common, I think a couple of ideas would be appropriate in include in NU 16.

1.  That there be a set of check marks or some system of highlighting/selecting drives so that when you click on Speed Disk and expect it to defrag all your drives,  it doesn't just choke up because your boot disk is a SSD.

2.  The messages on the Dashboard stating that the boot disk/system disk needs to be defragged/optimized should take into account whether you have an SSD or not, and if one does; the message should not longer be displayed or a method of turning off or ignoring the message should be available to the user....

thank you for your reply
