Norton Utilities purchased but can't be activated

Hi Community,
I am facing a problem with Norton Utilities Ultimate. I just purchased a subscription and the order appears in my account. However, there is no straight way to activate/install it. It simply does not in the list of my subscriptions. I had a trial installation which ended in January 2025. In the order detail there is a renewal code, however, it seems to be to short, when I try option “Enter product code”. Anyone knowing this problem and having a solution?
Thanks and so long

  • Norton Product Key/Activation Code: Typically a 25-character alphanumeric string used for initial setup or activation.
  • Norton Renewal Code: Could be a shorter, 19-character code used to extend an existing subscription.

Uninstall Norton Utilities Ultimate here

Enter your Norton product key here

Look in your Norton Account and click on My Subscriptions at the top right. Find your Norton Utilities subscription and click on Download or Share. That will initiate the installation process for you.

Hi, thanks for contact.
But it is not that easy. As I said, it does NOT appear in my subscriptions, but it is in my order history. The only subscription I can see, is the 60-days-trial, which ended in Jan. 25. When I click there on “Produt Key” I am asked to provide a 25-digit product key. However, the prolongation key in the order only has 20 digits and does not lead any further :frowning:

and you’ve clean uninstalled / clean installed?

The idea is to get past Norton presets & bots.

Note: type “agent” three times to reach = human agent

You could also look in your Norton Utilities product for a Renew button. Click on Settings on the left bottom and scroll to the right at the top so you see My Subscription. Then see if you see Renew where my image shows Active. If you do see that it should take you to a renewal page where you can enter the renewal code you received.

Hi Peter,
good idea, but unfortunately the app is not installed anymore on my computer. However, in my Norton 360 when I click on “Store” it shows me that I have a valid Utilities subscription ???

Did you get your renewal key by email? If so, scour through that email for a link to enter the key. If found, try that.

Also, where did you purchase a renewal key when this is a new subscription you are trying to set up? You probably should have just purchased a new product key which would have the 25 characters you are being asked to enter. You are probably going to have to use the information in bjm_'s post above to contact Norton Support to sort this out for you. They should be able to exchange your renewal key for a new product key.

Hi Peter,
yesterday I wasn’t able to get an agent in the chat, because they always requested a session code which I should generate through a link they sent. However, this did not work. I tried again a few hours ago and I was put through to an agent immediately (w/o code). They cancelled and refunded my purchase immediately and helped me made a proper buy. So, all good now, thanks a lot for your help!

Great news. Thanks for posting back.

Support. I have a similar problem. It is January 2026, I did buy Norton 360 Premium early last year. I did activate every aspect of it, except the Utilities. I have renewed my subscription again, but I am still having the same problem - I can’t activate utilities after the download. I can’t believe this issue has not been resolved yet after seeing in was flagged here months ago. The space to use for the activation code needs more characters than what is provided. It allows groups of four characters per field, but then the field before the last takes the last of 25 characters, and the last field remains blank. This does not highlight the activation button/tab. I have tried adding zeroes to the blank fields at the end, but still it does not work. How can I deal with this?

Hello @Daniel_Lukudu
Did you try pulling pre-activated installer from your Norton account?

==================================================

The issue with the Norton Utilities activation field can be solved by using the online account management method to activate the product, or by directly contacting Norton Customer Support for assistance. The issue with the input fields is a known bug that prevents manual entry from working correctly in the app interface.

Recommended Solutions

  1. Activate through your Norton Account online: This is the most reliable method and bypasses the faulty input fields in the application.
  • Sign in to your account at my.norton.com/home/setup.
  • Go to the My Subscriptions tab and find your Norton 360 or Norton Utilities product.
  • Download and install the product from there. The installation from the account page should automatically activate the software upon launch and signing in, without requiring you to manually enter the product key in the application’s input fields.
  • If the Utilities portion still isn’t activated in the app, look for a “Restore Purchase” or “Sign In” option within the Utilities application itself, using the same account credentials.
  1. Contact Norton Customer Support: Since you’ve already renewed your subscription and this is a persistent technical problem, a support agent can resolve the issue directly.
  • Visit the official Norton Support page to find contact options (chat is often the quickest).
  • Explain the problem: the activation key field has a graphical glitch where it doesn’t allow the full 25 characters, preventing activation within the application interface.
  • They can verify your purchase and help with the activation process, either by remotely assisting you or by pushing the activation to your account.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

  • Check the product key format: The key is a 25-character alphanumeric string in five groups of five characters (XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX). Do not add any extra zeros or spaces; the program is designed to handle the correct format if the field was working properly. The issue is likely a software bug, not an incorrect key.
  • Reinstall the application: Uninstalling and then reinstalling the Norton software might clear the glitch. Make sure to download the fresh installer from your online account after uninstalling.

Thanks BJM. I will try that.

You say you purchased and installed Norton 360. That does not include the Norton Utilities. Norton Utilities requires a separate paid subscription.
