Norton Utilities : Two Major Problems

I'm running Norton Utilities ver 14.5 with NIS 2009 (fully updated to 2010) and both programs seem adequate to the job.  However, I do have two complaints about NU that Symantec needs to correct ASAP.  First, when you run the Windows Cleanup, it runs an IE cleanup, which you can't uncheck and doesn't appear on the menu, and dumps all of your browser's cookies. This despite that you can save cookies in the separate IE cleanup.

Second, Symantec decided not to use the venerable, fast, and much more accurate Norton Windows Defrag in NU and instead opting to use the POS Windows Defrag.  There are too many Windows utilities in NU and that needs to change as why am I paying for NU?  However, NU does do a good job in Windows and browser cleanup, and I think it's Registry cleaner and Registry defrager/compacter makes the program worth the money.  And, I do like the fact that NU won't make any serious changes without creating a restore point first.

SystemWorks was a POS resource hog and I"m glad to be rid of it.  I think that NU and NIS work well together and will do a decent enough job protecting you and keeping your PC tuned up.  I don't care for Norton 360 as it's too light in it's tuneup ability and doesn't have the firewall that NIS has.  Since NU isn't a TSR and won't hog resources, you're much better off with the combo of NU and NIS then Norton 360, which is still a pig.  I realize that NU is a work-in-progress and I hope that when ver 15 is released, it will finally be the maintenance program that we all crave.
