Issue abstract:
Detailed description: I own Norton Utilities Ultimate and Norton driver updater. I’ve updated my drivers, re-scanned for drivers, and I’m told all drivers are updated, I’ve done this more than once since I’ve had the updater. But, when I use Norton Utilities, I always get a notice that says “System Driver, Risk:Incompatibility with OS updates” with a prompt to get the Norton driver updater, which I already have and have had for a while. When I use driver updater, I don’t get anything that looks like what Utilities is telling me.
Product & version number:
OS details: Windows 11
What is the error message you are seeing?
If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:
Do your self a big favor and cancel both subscriptions.
Both do not give you any extra info that is not available elsewhere in the OS and both can be dangerous in different ways to bringing your system down with bad drivers and cleaning out files unnecessarily..
The message you see in Norton Utilities is just a marketing message trying to scare you into purchasing the Driver Updater. The Norton products do not ‘talk’ to each other so they don’t know if you already have purchased the add ons.
UU declared I had 9 outdated drivers. I used Microsoft’s Device Manager and checked all the drivers for flags showing problems. None. To be safe, I selected the drivers and chose to update them all. All were at the current and correct level for Win11. Then, I went back into UU and lo and behold it declared I had 3 outdated drivers. I don’t believe the report and I tried the Driver Updater which created more problems than before, so I discontinued it during the trial period. As long as I can check the drivers and updated them myself, I will not be buying an unnecessary “tool”.
Did this with just my bluetooth driver that Norton stated were outdated and all were up to date according to windows. I trust windows over Norton. The driver update by Norton, I feel is a scam. Makes me wonder about the other components of Norton. Think I will go back to ESET and another utility software when Norton expires as I DO NOT TRUST NORTON.
