Norton V24 version seems difficult to use

For Norton V24 version, I reluctantly installed it many times on my computers, yet ultimately removed it entirely.

I have already upgraded to the Platinum version, but still encounter homepage promotions.

Even if I can endure the homepage advertisements, there are bugs in the UI main program. Once, after installation, the NortonUI program had bugs, occupying a large amount of CPU and memory for an extended period. This issue was resolved after reinstallation.

Other problems include delayed virus - reporting pop - up windows and sluggish program startups. Having been accustomed to V22, after upgrading to V24, the computer always feels sluggish when in use.

Even if I can tolerate all of these, it is truly agonizing that the NortonUI keeps spinning and loading incessantly.

I am not sure whether it is just an issue with my network. When starting the program interface, the loading speed is extremely slow. Sometimes, when I wish to view the logs, exclude false positives, or modify a setting, it simply gets stuck on the starting interface, spinning constantly, which is extremely irritating.

In addition, the cloud connection is also unstable, and the file reputation information in the right - click file menu often fails to load.

Additional note: There is also a perplexing situation. The Norton browser plug - in recommended for installation within the program and the current web protection blacklist library source seem to be different. There will be instances where the web protection blocks something, while the Norton browser plug - in reports it as safe.

Is ther not a guide to use it like in norton utilities
It is possible comming to make et easyer to use but you can read more aboute on the 24 site in the communety site but norton possible also has a guide to fix the problem
Then disable it to start whit to make it save to run on

I’ve finding v24.8 actions crisp…certainly crisper/crispier than v22.x

Thanks for your help, the OS is Windows11 with all updates.
I’m wondering if it’s uncommon for the software interface(NortonUI) to take a long time to load every time I open it?
And unfortunately norton web protection does incorrectly block normal web pages.

Hi, thank you for the suggestion. However, I’ve been a Norton Security user for over ten years. From my own experience, since the update to v24, the overall stability of the program seems to have declined rather noticeably. Also, the ads on the main screen are quite a distraction.

It might be related to the usage environment. I’ll install norton again and do my best to take screenshots and provide feedback on my questions. Thanks for your patient answers and assistance.

Additionally, regarding the interface advertising issue mentioned earlier, if there’s no yellow dot mark in the store and no product recommendations below the device on the homepage, I’m reluctant to simply consider it as advertising.

Hello, I still encounter the same problem.

Isn’t promoting other products on the homepage advertising?

After running the Smart Scan, a page to purchase other products will pop up in the end.

In addition, when starting the program, the loading is still very slow, with a long period of white screen and spinning circle.

Okay…I don’t run Smart Scan.
I ran v24.8 Smart Scan once (just to see) and have Smart Scan schedule > Run manually.

Well, my slow dust collector machine with slow startup…v24.8 is slow to appear…but, v22.x was also slow. Home page also has white unfilled space.
Have you disabled Optimize Disk and other Performance functions.
Preset scans Smart | Quick | Full on Run manually.

but it look much simpel to use the 24.x but i dont got it yet so i can not say somthing aboute it but cant you go back to the 22.x

But right now, the V24 version update has started to be pushed to V22.x users. I really appreciate GEN’s continuous efforts in the update of network security technology to safeguard our computers. However, at present, V24 does have some bugs that affect the usage experience. I posted on the forum to figure out if these are random occurrences or if everyone is having the same experience that affects them. I also hope that the official staff can take notice.

Yeah, I’ve read a lot of posts that you and other professionals posted on the forum and have optimized some options in the settings- for instance, disabling the periodic scan of SmartScan, and turning off the auto-optimize and auto-backup of some background optimization functions (I’ve already purchased other more professional software to achieve these functions). For me, it would be great if Norton just does a good job in security.
Just based on my personal experience of using it, V22.x that use the original Symantec technology is definitely smoother.

i’ve had v24.8 pushed on to me, then it says its not compataible with windows 10, so it re-installs v22…however i now have both v24 and v22 on my system and i’m bloody confused…i can seemingly use either, but i’m not sure what i’m supposed to do about it!

…other than cancel the sub, get rid, and go elsewhere…

Windows 10 …
Too much marketing and very slow and it seems to be buggy
