I am from the northeastern USA. I recently installed Norton 360 with Lifelock on my Acer Desktop computer running Windows 11. I use Firefox browser and Thunderbird email. Since installing Norton 360 and Lifelock, when I open Thunderbird and attempt to download my emails, I get a message "Alert from account (my xfinity email address): Temporarily blacklisted IP address - try again later". I have to actually go online to access my email account which is a pain in the you know what. I have tried the "Split Tunnel" feature for Norton VPN but when I click on Add then scroll down to Thunderbird, select Thunderbird, the OK button stays grayed out so I can't finalize my selection. I have tried doing it with the VPN turned off and turned on but it just doesn't work. I need to get my email functioning now before my 76 year old husband has a meltdown. Please help. By the way, I don't have this issue on my Apple products using the Apple email ap, only with Thunderbird on my desktop and my husbands Samsung tablets.
Thank you. It took a combination of the replies but I got it! Thank you!
To find your own .exe file path:
Type thunderbird.exe in the search bar next to the Start button.
On my Win 10 system the Thunderbird.exe is found here. C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird . You cannot just click on the Thunderbird program that is listed when you first start the add to Split Tunnel list.

The issue is your email provider blocking access from an IP address from a location they do not recognise for your account. This is done to protect your account. You can add your Thunderbird to the Split Tunnel feature of Norton's VPN to avoid this happening. Click on the down arrow beside the Turn on/off for the VPN feature, then click on Settings. Click on Split Tunnel and then on Add. Navigate to and add the Thunderbird.exe file and you should not be blocked any more.

Cmstritt:I am the administrator on my desktop but the OK button is still grayed out preventing me from adding any program to the split tunnel. I don't understand why it won't let me add a program to the split tunnel. Please let me know of any other ideas for this issue.
head scratch --- you're trying to add an executable? correct?
Sorry, I do not run Thunderbird to add 'thunderbird.exe', as test.
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe"
Caveat: I do not run Thunderbird.
Enable Split Tunnel in your Norton product to manage your VPN traffic

for example:
Um, presumably you've run Norton LiveUpdate with Restart (not Shut down) machine.
~ any other Norton Settings - grayed?

Are you in Windows Administrator user account?
peterweb:
I use Thunderbird as my email app. To use it with the VPN feature in 360, I had to add it to the Split Tunnel feature of the VPN. From the My Norton 360 interface click on the down arrow beside the VPN Turn On button, then click on Settings. Then click on Split Tunnel and then click on Add and search for the .exe file for Thunderbird. Then test to see if that helps you.

Important pointers:
- You need to log in to your computer with an Administrator user account to change the product settings.
- For Standard user accounts, some of the settings may appear disabled (grayed out).
- If you are an administrator, keep in mind that the changes that you make apply to all users who use the computer.

As for not being able to access specific web sites, many web sites do not allow access from known VPN IP addresses. They do this for copyright, legal, and political reasons. There is nothing a VPN provider can or should do to circumvent these legal protections.
