When I have the VPN on it will stop my wifi connection and a few minutes later will connect again.I discovered this when I gave up and just turned the VPN off and discovered that it was indeed the problem.
What to do to fix this?
Have you tried uninstalling NWP, restarting your computer, then reinstalling again?
Are you using a Windows admin account or a standard user account?

I bought norton wifi privacy too and it I can't use the internet because it never connects to anything. If Norton doesn't figure out a solution before my next bill is due I'm dropping it and telling everyone I know not to waste their time or money on it too.

You do not have to turn off the Fast Startup feature as long as you are aware of how it works. You can leave it enabled as long as you realize that Shutting Down and then starting up again does not actually fully shut down your computer. When this happens, any pending updates for any software, not just Norton, or Windows itself, will not be able to update any running system files. You can ensure the complete shutdown if you choose the Restart option. As long as you do this at least every day or two, you should not see the problems.

And contacting Norton is pretty much useless.Four times in one week is three times too many to solve this problem.

The only way I could get my stuff to work was to turn off the NWP. Nothing else works. So NORTON this is NOT resolved and I am not alone. Oh yes if yo can't tell I am not happy.
The speed issue has been reported many times. Some were seeing even more speed reductions, as in Tomterrien's post above. I have found times where there is a great reduction in speed, and other times the reduction is in line with the overhead of the VPN encrypting and decrypting your data.

If disabling Fast Startup fixes things, you may have had some pending Norton or Windows updates that did not get completed because you were not getting the full shutdown needed to update running system files. Any one of these could have affected the startup of your Norton Wifi Protection, NWP. It is not only Norton products that are affected by this Fast Startup feature.
Yup.Mine is doing the same thing.It is unacceptable.
The download speed when I am on the VPN is drastically reduced when I have it turned on
5 MBs when i am on the VPN
95 MBs when I am off. This is not acceptable

Purchased Norton WiFi Privacy and the vpn function was working fine until yesterday when it began interrupting my internet connection, to solve the problem I tried turning off Norton WiFi Privacy and voila problem solved. So, why am I paying for a product I cannot use? Am I using a Beta version of this product? Is this a Windows 10 compatibility issue? Is there a hotfix or update available for this product?
Installed the Norton Wifi Privacy and now I have no internet access. I have tried all sort of configurations and nothing fixes the issue. I shut it off completely and now I have access again.

After disabling Fast Startup, did you restart the computer?
You should test again with the Norton Firewall enabled. There is no reason it should interfere with NWP.
Thanks.I do believe that this the correct solution.I disabled Fast Start temporarily disabled the firewall started NWP and things seem back to normal.

First question is have you restarted your computers? If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.
