Norton360 causing computer to run very slow

I am installed Norton360 via website.....immediately computer is running very slow.  Per web articles...N360 is a RAM hog.

So, I tried to uninstall & reinstall per the Norton webiste but the "dump.exe" file/program will not work(?).....

Please advise what/where to go from here....

NOTE:  I have scanned computer over & over, completed defrag., deleted un needed files/programs....but to no avail.

PLEASE ADVISE.

FYI.....I have even ordered MORE RAM just in case........

Hi,

can you please give us some extra info:

- How much RAM do you have now?

- Which Windows OS and Service Pack do you run?

- Which version of Norton 360 did you isntalled?

- What was your previous security / AV program, and how did you removed it?

Thanks!

Thank you for your response!

Here goes:

Purchased Norton last year around this time....."subscription" just expired.  I went online and downloaded N360.

All is well....except....computer starting running very, very slow.

I just uninstalled N360 & tried to reinstall(per forum comments) but now cannot complete & computer still running slow.

Parameters:

Dell Inspirion 1721 RAM 2G  AMD 64x2  wireless Internet 17" screen Vista OS 220 G 127 g free

standard windows already placed on computer

added:

 Malwarebytes

Currently N360 Icon is on computer but will not open/run/etc.

I have ordered an additional 2g RAM from Dell.....in the mail.....

Not sure what to do at this point.....I have defrag/deleted files/scanned/etc......but to no avail....

Before the new download....computer was running okay.....please advise.

Here's what you should  try:
1. Backup your Identity Safe data (Settings -> Identity Protection -> Backup)
2. Download latest Norton 360 installer: www.norton.com/n360s_4 for Standard or www.norton.com/n360p_4 for the Premium installer
3. Download Norton Removal Tool: www.norton.com/nrt
4. Disconnect from internet
5. Remove Norton 360 from Start Menu or from Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs
6. Reboot
7. Run the Norton Removal Tool, reboot (repeat it 2-3 times)
8. Install Norton 360
9. Reconnect to the internet
10. Activate Norton 360 v4 with the same key you have for the older version
11. Run Live Update until you get no new updates
12. Restore your Identity Safe data (Settings ->Identity Protection -> Restore)

Let us know if this helped. :)

PS: Norton 360 version 5.0 will be released soon (in this month), you can download it after release as a free update from the Norton update center. On version 4.0 you can install it over, or use the method above to have a clean install of 5.0.

Completed all sets.......there is/are no back up items when I pull that up in "tasks" not under "settings".....

still anywhere from 5-10 delay on internet.....like a dial up connection......next....

Is it just a slow internet connection, or is the computer itself running slow, such as taking more time to open a program?

No......the INC has not changed......BUT since down loading N360......EVERTHING is very slow.....instead of click...open.....it's more like....click.....count to 5-10 seconds and then it opens.......
