Hi,
I got SecureVPN running within Norton360 on Windows7 Home.
The VPN regularly drops the connection silently, resulting in browser taps which keep on spinnen endlessly when attempting to reload.
Sometimes the VPN even silently hands over the internet connection back to the ISP, so without any warning, whatever VPN region/server I choose.
I've done some testing and all indications point to a failing VPN server.
When everything works fine and I issue a tracert command on a static IP address, like 151.101.85.67 (www.cnn.com), then the first IP address I get is: 10.14.180.186 -- the first VPN server I presume -- followed by a bunch of other IP addresses.
Once the VPN drops its connection, everythink looks OK in the My Norton home panel; that is, Secure VPN stays connected: "Your connection is protected"
But when I tracert 151.101.85.67 it returns 30 hops with: Request timed out.
.
..
1 * * * Request timed out.
...
8 * * * Request timed out.
....
...
..
30 * * * Request timed out.
So no trace of any VPN server anymore, like 10.14.180.186, its gone.
At first I thought there might've been a problem with DNS servers, but that is probably not the case as ping or tracert 10.14.180.186 should work in case of failing DNS servers.
I was just wondering, are there any apps or utilities available to monitor, diagnose, keep alive and/or restores a failing VPN connection?
Oh, btw, before this N360VPN I had a stand-alone VPN of Norton and that was never a problem; it did use a TAP adaptor though, which is not the case with N360VPN.
Regards
