Norton’s Japanese website chat support is unavailable.
This has been unusable for about six months.
Chat support is available from the English site, but translating and connecting to someone who understands Japanese each time is a hassle.
Online help chat support is one of the services included in the subscription; please fix this as soon as possible so that it can be used on any country’s website.
I’ve contacted Norton’s official phone help, and they say they are currently working on a fix.
However, I’ve been waiting for six months; please fix it quickly.
Developers, please contact your engineers and address this issue if you see this thread.

Japanese chat support is still unavailable.
When will the bug be fixed and it become available?
The American version works normally, but it’s inconvenient because I have to translate it every time.
I request an early fix.

I followed these steps, but it didn’t work properly:
1: Log in to your Norton Japanese account screen
2: Select Support - Inquiry - Chat Support
3: Click “Start Chat” on the attached screen → No response
(The chat window doesn’t open)
*If it’s working correctly, the yellow mark in the lower right corner will change to a chat window.
*Chat cannot be started on the Japanese support site.
*Chat can be started on the English support site (chat on the sales screen).

Yes, that’s correct.
In my browser, chat starts correctly in English-speaking regions.
In the Japanese version, clicking doesn’t open the chat window at all; it doesn’t work.
Norton’s official support in Japan has also acknowledged this bug.
I’m puzzled why this bug has persisted for months in the Japanese version without being fixed.
The developers should fix and improve the system so that the same service is available in all countries.

Unfortunately, I was unable to start a chat on the Japanese version of the site even with Norton Private Browser. (See attached image)
It also doesn’t start on Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
bjm was able to start chat support on the Japanese version of the site (judging from the image).
My PC has undergone a clean install, so there are no problems there.
I suspect there might be an issue with the Japanese OS (Windows 11 Home) and Norton’s chat support.
Please consider these two cases and contact the Norton developers to fix it.
Please also contact the developers regarding this forum post.

Hello @SEKIRAM
Thanks for sharing your progress
We’ll try to call attention:
I know this issue has been reported some time ago. I cannot remember if anyone has asked if you are using a VPN or ad blocker extension in your browser while trying to access chat. If so, turn those off and test. Norton does not play well with VPNs, even their own.

I’m not using any blocking extensions.
I’m not using VPN-Norton either.
Also, the Japanese chat support worked fine until April.
It suddenly stopped working, and it’s been several months since then.
Normally, a well-known browser should offer chat support.
I cannot use the Japanese chat support.
I can use the English chat support.
Others can use the Japanese chat support.
They can use the chat support in their native region.
It’s strange.

Unfortunately, Norton support in Japan is aware of the bug but is not taking any action to fix it. Why? I don’t know.
Therefore, we have no choice but to rely on the developers on this forum.
To the developers managing this forum, please contact the development team and request that they fix the issue.

Did you try – Incognito / Private window inside Edge/Chrome?
When the page structure and the graphics load completely, but clicking “Chat Now” (チャットする) results in a blank click with zero response, it means the browser is successfully rendering the HTML but blocking the strict background JavaScript API hook that fires up the secure messaging server.
This specific code crash on the Japanese portal happens because the domestic chat widget utilizes localized third-party cookies or scripts that modern tracking-prevention systems misidentify as malware or invasive tracking scripts.
The Japanese version of the site heavily relies on strict, locally routed script triggers and Japanese-specific cookie policies that frequently break under default browser configurations.
Why the Japan Page Fails (And How to Bypass It)
Cookie Domain Mismatch: If your browser has cookies stored from the global us.norton.com or support.norton.com/sp/en/ domains, navigating to the Japanese subdirectory (/sp/ja/jp/) will cause script loops that freeze the chat button.
Alternative Support Channel: If you bought your subscription in Japan, your billing might be processed by BBSS (SoftBank ), which hosts a completely separate infrastructure for Japanese Norton users.
Step-by-Step Fixes for the Japan Page
Clear Site-Specific Cookies
Do not clear your entire browser history. Instead, wipe out just the Norton-related cookies that are causing the regional cross-talk:
While on the broken Japanese support page, click the Padlock icon (or settings icon) next to the URL in your browser’s address bar.
Select Cookies and site data > Manage cookies and site data .
Remove everything listed under norton.com and nortonstore.jp.
Refresh the page and try to initiate the chat again.
Use the BBSS / SoftBank Partner Portal
If you purchased your Norton software bundled with an internet service provider in Japan or via a local retail outlet, you may need to use the dedicated Norton Store Japan Support Portal . This site runs on distinct domestic servers and circumvents the global corporate routing errors that crash the main page. [1 ]
Access via the Local Japan Phone Line
If you need direct Japanese-speaking help immediately and the chat refuses to open, you can bypass the website entirely by initiating a direct inquiry.
Norton Japan Support Portal : The official localized support destination. If the page structure loads but the chat bubble is missing, ensure all tracking prevention features in your browser are turned off. [1 ]
Norton Store Japan (SoftBank Partner) : Provides localized assistance specifically tailored for Japanese billing cycles, local product codes, and domestic software activations.

Thank you for all your advice.
However, the service must be accessible without requiring any special settings.
This is an impossible task for an amateur.
Norton’s service cannot function unless all subscribers, including amateurs, can use it normally.
I tested it using Google Chrome’s private browser.
As a result, the chat does not work.
Deleting cookies does not help.
On my PC, English-language chat support works, but Japanese-language chat support does not.
This is truly frustrating.
It was working until April, then suddenly stopped working.
I will continue to request that the Norton developers work on restoring it.
Developers, please read this forum and request improvements from your development team.
