Not able to stop apps from Microsoft store

Hi, i want to stop my kid to ise youtube, blocked the same in website & apps.
But kid can easily download app from Microsoft Store.
Is there a way using Norton family to stop Microsoft store from downloading youtube and other game apps ?

Hi,
You can verify, the windows account kid using is limited ( not even a power user).
From earlier response, i understood, it is limitation of NF, it can’t monitor windows store & Apps.
But this limitation fails NF to perform its basic intention.

I we may, can we verify that the children DO NOT log into their devices using an account that has admin privileges? IE: Mobile devices for instance setup with a limited account passcoded so no actions can be taken to alter settings, etc? Same on the Windows devices. If they have admin account and/or know your login credentials that is the issue. NF will only do so many things, it cannot prevent ALL user interactions. The parent account setup has to be correctly done and on each seperate device being used. Just following up.

Hi, thanks for suggestion, i am using windows 10 prof & GP policies failed to restrict windows store. I am able to stop store by removing exe in safe mode, but why i have to do all this…, i am paying Norton family to do what it advertised.

Hello Kiranjurra. One specific thing is on the machine(s) children are using they should NOT have an account nor access to an account that has admin privileges, NOR, know the login credentials of the main admin account on the device. To use the Microsoft store a user MUST have a Microsoft account and be logged into that account. I would determine whether the children have managed to create such an account and are using that to gain access to the MS store. If you have an Microsoft account and have logged into the system with it simply log out, the child can then log in with their limited access acounts. If they know your login passcode and / or MS account login change it.

Windows 10, offers a way to block users from having Windows Store access. Please review this article on Ten Forums. The article suggest editing the group policy within Windows and not all Windows version are able to do so. I would ask someone who is tech savvy to assist you, please note that you are doing so at your own risk

Hi Kirankurra,

Norton Family, Windows provides Web Supervision on browsers only and not at the App level when downloaded from Microsoft Store. App blocking/supervision is a feature under consideration and is part of our roadmap for a future release.

Thanks and Regards,
Norton Family.

I have asked your post be moved to the Norton Family board for better exposure to Family users.
