Not sure what this is? Appeared on Disk Utility

Apple wanted me to see if this might be connected to Norton or Norton VPN.

Would welcome any suggestion. thanks

Hello Jimmy. Although I’m not a MAC user, I can’t say this is or isn’t related to Norton from what I am reading here on this Apple forums. Apple forums suggest there are legacy apps as the cause. Does running the Norton VPN cause this to appear or is it there on a continual basis?

It’s on a continuous basis. I’ve been in contact with Apple support for several days. They had me download an application that gathered all kinds of information. She sent it to engineers and they didn’t know either. I’m still waiting to hear back from them. Not sure what a legacy application is.
Thanks for your time.

Please do post back with your results from Apple. Legacy apps can be old applications that are really liked by users yet present some sort of unknown issues that aren’t seen until another update/upgrade to the OS is done. It can be from an old install of antivirus software to an Apple favorite. Did you follow the link to the Apple forums where they were troubleshooting? Their posts are fairly recent so this is something that just occurred not long ago with MAC users.

Unfortunately, Apple support wasn’t able to remedy my problem. Even after several hours. Even after the software engineers reviewed it. I did find a link to another site that offered a somewhat viable solution for some, but not for me. How to Prevent Creedence Cryptex Disk Appearing on Desktop

The next obvious step is to remove Norton. Please do that temporarily to see if these volumes disappear. The article you linked suggested that as a test to locate the cause. The forums have been under maintenance for quite some time so no one could reply to you before today.
