On booting up, Nort popped an error up. I do not have the code any longer.
The error referred to Nort being unable to start because of a possible infection.
I followed it's trail of links, and downloaded NPE.exe.
When done dl'ing, I ran npe.exe. Agreed to the agreement, and a window popped up saying I needed a newer version of NPE.exe.
I manually found a newer version, and ran that. Within 10 seconds, it popped a window saying it would have to reboot before it could do a rootkit scan.
I rebooted.
The only popup was the original 'do you want to run this file' prompt. I clicked Run, and nothing happened.
The 'run' window just sat there, doing nothing.
There was no scan, no other prompts. I left it for 5 minutes then closed the 'run' window.
I take it the npe.exe did nothing. If it did, it was done in a micro second. I have 5.5 Terabytes on several drives.
Did it do something?
I tried npe.exe again - nothing happens - nothing.
Rebooted, tried again - nothing.
re-downloaded, tried again - nothing.
i
