I am trying to use NPM to update several old passwords using the pw generator. However when Norton sends me to the webpage the norton popup window is blocking the section on the webpage where i need to log in. Also I tried using the chat option but it would say “session expired” before I even entered the chat. I mean, come on man. A simple procedure has now taken up half of my day.

You can temporarily pause the Norton extension in Google Chrome. This completely removes the blocking window immediately so you can use the website normally.

1. In Google Chrome, look at the very top-right corner of your browser. Click the icon that looks like a puzzle piece (this is your Extensions menu).
2. Click on Manage extensions at the bottom of that drop-down list.
3. Look through your list of extensions until you find Norton Password Manager.
4. Click the blue toggle switch next to it so it turns grey (Off).

The annoying overlay blocking your login screen will vanish instantly. Log into your website and get to the section where you change your password.

How to Safely Change Your Password While It’s Off

Since you need the password generator, you can actually use it without the extension being active on the page:

1. Open a new Chrome tab and go directly to the Norton Password Manager Web App webpage.
2. Log into your vault there.
3. Use the standalone Password Generator inside that clean tab to create a strong password.
4. Copy it, flip back to your website tab, and paste it into the field.

Once your passwords are successfully updated, go back to that puzzle piece menu and turn the Norton switch back On so it can save your new credentials.

The chat room failure on Windows 11 usually happens when stale cookies or background tracking blockades conflict with Norton’s security portal, tricking it into thinking your connection has timed out.

• Try Incognito Mode: Press Ctrl + Shift + N to open a fresh Incognito window in Chrome. Go straight to the Official Norton Support Contact Page and start the chat there. This completely bypasses corrupted browser cache or conflicting extensions.
• Turn Off Built-In Chrome Password Popups: Sometimes Google’s native manager conflicts with Norton. Go to chrome://settings/passwords and toggle off Offer to save passwords so Google stops fighting Norton for screen dominance.
