NS Full scan wouldn't stop

Good day,

I have very recently installed NS v22.2.0.31 on a WinXp sp3 desktop.

The 1st full scan was run after installing and setting up IDS. The scan went through the root drive and the 2nd drive 1st partition.

When it seemed it was just about done with the smaller 2nd partition of the 2nd drive it spent a lot of time on a compressed(rar) ebook

file. It must have stayed on that for ~hour. I decided to hit stop for which NS reported 'stopping'. After waiting a half hour for it to actually

stop I tried the stop button again (I guess kind of like hitting an elevator button and continue to hit it expecting the elevator to arrive quicker)

and waited a few minutes.  Finally hit the X hoping it would close the program. It finally did, showed a couple of 'dumprep' processes in

the task manager.

One strange note is that the hard drive continues to be very well lit. Lots of accessing going on (or tech term- trippin) even though its been like a half hour now.

In NS History it simply shows a quick scan that had been done before the full scan had begun. -Quick scan reported 0 detections.

My question is simply, is there a different way I should've handled this apparent hang.

The future should not have the same issue as I can live without the file and have deleted it from the system. I just want to make it as clean and reliable as possible and give NS as few tech. problems to deal with as possible as well :)

As always, thank you much.
