Ok and Cancel buttons not working cannot deactivate device admin

Upon opening nortons for my samsung j3 emerge to remove device admin priveledges within the application in order to be an option to remove it in the settings, the ok button and Cancel buttons within the app itself still leave the device admin priveledges left on. This is a horrible nightmare and i feel like my phone is trapped. Tomorrow i will have no other option than a hard reset on my phone. I will do whatever i can to get my family and friends to NOT use any Norton products as i feel your company has imprisoned my phone. I understand about device administrator priveledges and when i open the app to deselect it both the ok button and the cancel (the only other option to click within the app to disable it), still leave the device administrator engaged. With this entact, i am not able to deactivate it within settings as the button is “greyed” out. Thank you for holding my phone hostage

One thing I have learned here is that Samsung makes proprietary changes to the Android OS that can cause issues with some apps. Norton included. I'm not saying that is the case here, but it might be.

If you have the time and patience, can you go into the Norton Settings, and scroll to the bottom and turn on the Enable Debug Log feature. Then set up the Anti Theft section again and any other settings you left out after reinstall. Then try to reproduce the issue. Then try to access the Norton settings again. I know you said you could not last time, but maybe this time you can. If you can, on the settings page, go back to the logging section and turn the logging off. Then tap on Send Error Report with Log Files. If you are able to do this, note your forum name, and maybe a link to this thread in the information you send.

If you cannot do this, please let me know and I will try to escalate the issue.

One more question.  Have you rooted your device?

Maybe the same/similar problem as the original person. Just reread his.

When I went to go on an app it was greyed out saying that it wasn't installed. Turned out it was every single app. I'd installed Norton on my mobile 2 days previously and had given admin rights to manage the apps (on the anti theft option).

I hadn't done anything, I hadn't restarted anything. I just unlocked the phone and there they were (or not there). I then realised it said Safemode and the instructions where to click to disable. I did and it said it would restart the phone and it would be disabled but each time I restarted it still said safemode.

I tried to uninstall and it said I would have to disable admin rights before uninstalling. Problem was Norton app was greyed out too. I finally found it on the phone settings and disabled it but it still kept saying Safemode. A while later I realised I hadn't tried uninstalling after finding/disabling on the phone settings. That worked, it uninstalled and safemode was gone. Had to reinstall because I needed it but when it came to the anti theft option I didn't enable it. Safemode hasn't been an issue for the last few hours. Would like to so if Norton figured out why it happened, I'd like to know...

My phone is Samsung A3 SMA300FU. ANDROID 6.0.1. Don't know if that makes a difference

What problems were you having that made you uninstall/reinstall the app? It sounds strange that the device restarted, and that it restarted in Safe Mode?

Same thing just happened on mine. Selecting OK restarted the phone but it just remained in Safe Mode. Deactivated it in the phone settings and then uninstalled Norton (tried it before I found the phone settings to deactivate and it didn't let me uninstall), this time it let me. Re-installed Norton but chose not to set up the anti-theft which caused my problems, shame but I need access my apps.

Hope this helps

I just tested on my HTC phone on Android 4.4.2 and the OK and Cancel buttons both work.

Have you restarted your phone?

Did you try disabling the device admin setting in Android Settings?
