Thanks. I have loaded NAV 2009. Now I will have to see if it prevents meltdown, recalling that NAV 2008 worked for about a month before virus meltdown.
About a month or so ago, my subscription was going to run out on my Norton Antivirus. So I ordered the 2008 and installed it. The 2007 was working terrifc, as did the 2006. I haven't had any problems until the last few days. Now weird things are happening. Real weird. Like I can't bring up "Hotmail", but I can bring up virtually any other website. I come to work and hotmail is working, so I know it has nothing to do with hotmail being down. The problems I'm having seem to be related to Internet Explorer. My computer is a few years old, so I don't have this new Vista nightmare installed. B.T.W, it is too much of a coincidence that IE is not working so soon after installing the NAV 2008. I have not had problems for years with IE on my machine.
But as I look through the messages in various forums, it seems that the response from the professionals to almost all problems with NAV 2008 is to take the free upgrade to NAV 2009. I will most certainly try this when I get home, but it seems that the Symantec folks must know that there are problems with 2008, but aren't saying. Maybe that is why they're offering the free upgrade? To clear their conscience? Somehow I'm afraid that when I try to get a full year's worth of NAV 2009 with this free upgrade that it won't last the full year. I paid full price for NAV 2008 and had hoped to get a full year's service like I did on 2007 and 2006.
I would like some of the Symantec professionals to chime in with an explanation if they would. I also would like anyone who has experienced my "weird" problem of hotmail seemingly being blocked to comment. Is NAV 2009 going to solve my problem? It is spyware? Will NAV 2009 get rid of the spyware?
Oh and by the way, when I run scans with my Norton AV, it is hanging up arbitrarily also. All kinds of weird behavior.
Thanks. . . .
Joe
Hi Joe,
We offer a free Update to the latest version because we feel our customers with valid subscriptions should have the best protection possible. When you download and install the free update, it will "pick up" the subscription time for your previous Norton AntiVirus product, and apply it to NAV 2009. You can download the update to NAV 2009 here: http://www.norton.com/nav09
If you already have a valid subscription to Norton AntiVirus 2006 or alter on your system, you will not need to purchase any additional subscription or product. Please see the SUBSCRIPTION CLARIFICATION post for detailed information on this process.
Without knowing specific information about your system,
settings, and other products installed, it’s difficult to determine the
problem on your system. If after you update your Norton AntiVirus
product, you still experience the problems, I would recommend
contacting our
customer support team to help troubleshoot the issue:

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Thanks!
