One Click Support --- Sloooww

Using NIS 2009. Opening One Click Support (OCS) all goes well 'till " Checking your Product", this takes about six minutes.

 Also if closed during this period it takes about one minute and CPU usage goes to 50 or 60% and remains up for a few seconds after closing.( 2 GB memory )

Have contacted Symantec Tech Support and several emails exchanged, also four chat sessions. During the last chat session the supervisor took over and delved into this computer, during this I pointed out OCS took nine minutes to open he said this was normal

" as it has a lot of things to do "

 

Over the last few days NIS 2009 has been uninstalled using Norton Removal Tool and reinstalled twice. Before the last chat session  Symantec Tech Support requested all Temporary and Prefetched files be deletes and Disk Cleanup run, all this made no difference.

On this computer Counter Spy and Super Anti Spyware are installed, disabling Active Protection in Counter Spy made no difference to OCS opening time.

Also have a laptop on a wireless network with this computer and the same opening time problem with OCS

 

Having used OCS before on both computers obviously something has changed. Ran a few checks on OCS today, four were 5 minutes/ 37 sec. but amongst these was one at 39 sec which i woujd take as normal.

 

No problems with other programs on both computers and all other functions of NIS 2009 work OK.

 

I would apprecite it if some other users with OCS could check opening times and especially if any viewers have any comment and solutions.
