I just spent $50.00 for Norton antivirus 2009. I got it all downloaded only to have my computer tell me that Date Execution Prevention has closed Norton antivirus. I went in and changed the DEP like it said but it still won't let it work. My question is, is Norton antivirus not compatible with DEP?

Thanks for your help

Kayleen

I will admit I am not good with computer stuff. I have no idea if I have a firewall or not. I think I am just going to take it to the computer store and let them fix it.

If you have some ideas on what I can do that would be great. I have redownloaded it but didn't save it to a file, guess I can try that real quick.

Thanks

Kayleen

I tried redownloading it and that didn't work either, I am thinking I am out of $50.

No you are not out $50. Are you currently running any other security software? You should use a firewall which is NIS 2009? What is your OS?

I believe me computer came with Norton on it but it was expired. I believe I did it wrong I guess I should of maybe renewed it,I will blame no sleep on that mistake.

If you are currently running Norton you need to unistall your version first. What version of Norton are you using? Also is Windows firewall on if you are currently not using a firewall? Look in your security center for Windows. You really should know what your pc came with. What is down in your system tray? What icons are there?

You are correct Dieselman.

Please be sure the old version was uninstalled first. Considfering the fact it sounds like a mess now. Please try this

Thanks I will try that lets hope it works.

After uninstalling NIS08, run NIS09 under the admin account.

Right click on NIS09 installation package>Run As>Uncheck protect my computer from viruses and malware>Type in the user and password of your admin account.

N.AV. 2009 does not have a Firewall, so you will need to enable Windows' Firewall.

Since symantec offer a 060-day money-back guarantee, I would suggest you contact Customer Support, Buy N.I.S. 2009 so you get an excellent symantec Firewall.  Just a Suggestion; it is up to you.

Thanks everyone for your help. Nothing I did helped. I got a refund from Norton, and will be taking my laptop in to see if the computer guy can fix it.

You would probably give a blank C.D. or something...

Yes sur three years beat that.

I never heard of this problem before. Have you tried redownloading it and saving it to a folder? Are you running a firewall?
