Hi all,

If you have a problem with Firefox updates, you know where to look.
Their reasoning my well be that the latest supported versions of W10 are going to continue getting the updates they need. Although a patch from Opatch will be over written when an official update is released, Opatch may just consider it a waste of resources.
Cheers
SoulAsylum:Recently on the Opatch website. https://blog.0patch.com/2020/01/micropatching-workaround-for-cve-2020.html
We ported this micropatch to the following platforms, both 32-bit and 64-bit:
- Windows 7,
- Windows 10 v1709,
- Windows 10 v1803,
- Windows 10 v1809,
- Windows Server 2008 R2,
- Windows Server 2019
I long suspected they didn't support current OSes, IE 1903, 1909.

Thanks for replies. I check my 0patch account daily and it seems to be constantly monitoring. 364 patches installed already and last server sync 14 minutes ago, so hopefully i can continue accessing my usual sites - i always check if Norton safe.
Freddles:So I changed to a PRO subscriptaa ion and today no more updates for Windows 7 :( ...
Hi Freddles:
Further to SoulAsylum's response, Win 7 SP1 just reached end of extended support on 14-Jan-2020. If you received the final January 2020 Patch Tuesday updates via Windows Update around that date, I suspect you won't receive any Win 7 micropatches from 0patch before the next Patch Tuesday (the second Tuesday of the month) on 11-Feb-2020. I also assume you won't be receiving any micropatches for your OS outside of monthly Patch Tuesdays unless some new zero-day malware is released into the wild and begins actively exploiting a vulnerability in Win 7 SP1 that requires an emergency out-of-band update.
0patch has compiled a list of FAQs for Win 7 SP1 users at https://0patch.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/360002871999-Windows-7-and-Windows-Server-2008-Post-End-of-Support-Security-Micropatches, including How long do you plan to provide Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 Micropatches? .
Your PRO license also gives you email support with a guaranteed response in 24 hours. If you have any concerns about 0patch you can submit a request to their Help Desk at https://0patch.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

There WON'T be daily updates available. Only when a vulnerability arises which Microsoft no longer supports is needed. No antivirus solution will be 100% all the time. Norton should provide the protection you need but keep in mind, individual surfing habits CANNOT be controlled by vendors. Smart sense is therefore prudent.

So I changed to a PRO subscription and today no more updates for Windows 7 :(
Can I safely access everything online as before? I am still feeling nervous.
I have purchased a Galaxy tab 5se but not getting on very well with it, much prefer my laptop. I have downloaded Norton Security to the tablet, so even though I don't find it easy to use ie. very poor to no response to tapping, is it totally safe online?
Right - looks like I need to change to a paid subscription then.
Freddles. From lmacri's post:
When we issue a micropatch, we decide whether it will only be offered to users with 0patch PRO license or also to users without one (i.e., 0patch FREE users). A micropatch offered only to 0patch PRO license holders is called a PRO patch, otherwise it's called a FREE patch.
Paid subscribers will be PRO, otherwise free patches are FREE patches. For end of life products AFTER Jan 14, 2020 patches will be PRO patches or paid with a subscription.
Patches for end-of-life products (e.g., old Java runtime versions, Windows Server 2003, or Windows 7 after January 14, 2020) shall be PRO patches.
My gathering is that after Jan 14 2020 EOL products will be patched as paid. Hope that helps.
Cheers
As a windows 7 user, i have signed up for free 0patch, but now wondering if it will be effective as in Imacris's post, 0patch say that end of life patches will be Pro patches ie paid for. I don't mind paying, i just want to know the true situation.
lmacri. Thanks for the heads-up !
ITMA:...0-Patch. What do you get with 0Patch Free ?...
Hi ITMA:
Supported operating systems for ACROS Security's 0patch are listed <here> and criteria for "micropatching" high-risk vulnerabilities can be found <here>. Most patches for end-of-life products (e.g., like Win 7 SP1 and Win Server 2008 after 14-Jan-2020) require that users purchase an annual subscription (currently $25/year/device) for the PRO version of 0patch. See the FAQ What are PRO patches and how are they different from FREE patches?, which states:
When we issue a micropatch, we decide whether it will only be offered to users with 0patch PRO license or also to users without one (i.e., 0patch FREE users). A micropatch offered only to 0patch PRO license holders is called a PRO patch, otherwise it's called a FREE patch.
While decisions will be made on a per-case basis, we have set some rough guidelines:
- Patches for vulnerabilities affecting predominantly home users and users in educational institutions (e.g., WinRAR or Equation Editor patches) shall be FREE patches.
- Patches for 0days that affect many home/educational users shall be FREE patches for some period of time (usually one month), or until official vendor fixes for such 0days are issued, at which time they will turn into PRO patches.
- Patches for issues affecting predominantly organizations (e.g., Windows Server issues) shall be PRO patches.
- Patches for end-of-life products (e.g., old Java runtime versions, Windows Server 2003, or Windows 7 after January 14, 2020) shall be PRO patches.

Questioning ?
0-Patch. What do you get with 0Patch Free ?
0patch Agent. What does it do ? 0Patch 3 levels of 'free, pay, paypay'.
Having read the 0Patch FAQ: 0Patch admit that eventually your OS will depreciate, even using 0Patch.
Looks like, just a greaser towards an OS Upgrade ?
Two of us posting here are already using Opatch. I haven't had any issues with anything they offer. Supposing the alternative is to upgrade from Windows 7.
There are many sites online discussing the 0patch and one contributor said:
"It sounds like you are placing your OS and apps in the hands of an anonymous and loosely organized group of coders. There is no way to know what will happen. The idea makes me nervous."
Is this just for patches? So it will not conflict with my Norton Security Premium with Back up?
Freddles. Norton can and will protect you to a certain extent. It will stop online threats, wifi threats, etc. depending on the version you have installed. Norton WON'T provide protection for outdated files in your Windows installation that won't get patched. Opatch is a good offering that will assist in that area where Norton cannot.
Cheers
When Microsoft stop support for Windows 7 in January 2020, will Norton Security be enough protection? I don't want to change this laptop to Windows 10, although i am looking for another device, which will no doubt have windows 10. But for as long as this 9 year old laptop functions, i want to use it.
