Other compatible software?

I cutrrently use Norton Internet security on my computer and I want to use another one, just to be safe but I know that some products, like avast antivirus, are not compatible and even conflict with norton. So I just wanted to know, what other possible antivrius and anti-crimeware programs are out there, preferablr from the net, that I can use to back up norton without conflicts.

Hello Lostinfantry

Welcome to the Norton Community

It is not safe nor advisable to use more than 1 antivirus program at the same time. If you use a router, then you have added protection in that the router usually has a firewall also in it. If you want to use on  demand free scanners thatt is ok. You could use the free versions of Malwarebytes and the free vversion of SUPERAntiSpyware.

Hitman Pro is a good second-opinion scanner as well, fully compatible. It is on-demand.

I have a similar problem in that I have been subjected to a phishing scam.  Norton 360 scans do not show any virus / spyware on my PC but my bank is insisting that I run independent scans for viruses and spyware.  I have run two free independent spyware packages.  Unfortunately the anti-virus software options recommended by my bank all require that Norton is uninstalled first (the on demand options mentioned that are compatible are not on the bank's list).

Can I uninstall Norton 360, do the virus scans with free trial software and then re-install Norton 360 from the Symantec website within the terms of my licence?

Hi ged,

This option isn't really the best choice.  The free version of Malwarebytes Anti malware as an on-demand scanner is completely compatible with your Norton product.  - http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free.  Superantispyware free version is also compatible.  -  http://www.superantispyware.com.  One more is Microsoft Safety Scanner.  -  http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-gb/default.aspx.

I hope this helps.

Dave.

Thanks Dave,

I will try these
