Outlook - out of memory

NIS2011/Outlook 2007/Win 7 64 bit

A few months ago Outlook stopped working and kept coming up with the standard out of memory message.  I thought this was a Microsoft problem and I managed to find a way around it.  Today I have seen that it is caused by NIS and probably an upgrade also released a few months ago and that turning off the e mail protection gets Outlook working again.  I've removed NIS2011 using the windows remove software function as well as running the Norton Removal tool several times.  Have reloaded a fresh downloaded NIS2011 and well ..... no difference the problem is still there.  If I turn off the e mail protection in NIS Outlook works fine as before.

Does anybody have any suggestions what to do next ?  After using Norton for more years than I care to recall it looks like I'm going to become an ex customer unless I can resolve this.

What is the error message? Could you give us a screenshot?

If I try to open a folder it says - Cannot display the folder.  There is not enough free memory to run this program.  Quit one or more programs, and then try again'.

If I close Outlook then turn off E Mail Protection on NIS using the switch on the NIS home page and re-open  Outlook all folders can be accessed.

Have you tried running them both with no other programs?

yes indeed.  There's 8Gb of RAM and Windows Task Manager - if that is to believed shows only 3Gb used currently - that mostly from IE9.

Everything was working fine and then it stopped - I didn't change or add anything so it was either a Windows update or an app update that changed it for the worse.  Same problem on my laptop as well as my desktop! Laptop is running the same programmes - Win 7 32 bit I think, Office 2007 & NIS 2011.  Again that just stopped working a few months ago.  I also put the same outlook pst files on the laptop and do so every week or two to ensure I have latest e mails when using the laptop.

Hi certainly_fake,

It would be great if you can gather log files for this issue.

Here is how you can collect debug logs:

1) Visit the below site:

http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080507162141EN

2) Make one change to the steps listed:

Step 2.6: Check all the advanced options

3) In the end, no files will be sent to Symantec automatically. You will be shown the location of the logs after you complete the form after hitting the "finish" button.
