Overcharged for subscription?

This is total BS!  I got an email that says they are going to charge me to renew for $109.99 for a one year subscription.  I went to the Norton Store and can get a two year subscription for $79.99.  The one year subscription was for $39.99.  (Premium Edition compared to Deluxe Edition)  I've used Norton for a long time but am seriously considering going with someone else.  Someone should develop software that protects you from crap like this.  Maybe Kaspersky will be my next Security Suite.

Hi PeterKe,

Glad you got it “fixed”.

To avoid future similar problems, and unless you do want to maintain Automatic Renewal on, please turn it off as instructed in this KB Article Turn off Norton Automatic Renewal service .

After which, for peace of mind, you should also remove your credit card info from “Billing information” in your Norton account (https://manage.norton.com/   HOME > Billing Information).

All the best.

Spoke to Supervisor and just about to go to next level of escalation; write a letter to Norton!  - in the name of god - and he conceded on pricing and has 'upgraded' me to new product with 10 devices plus a sweetener.

I'm sure there a 1,000s of other Norton customers paying the wrong price - this is "sharp practice" by Norton and perhaps illegal. Most people aren't aware or won't bother because of the time and effort to resolve it. 3 hours of my time over the last 2 days.

I really would except higher standards from Norton.

PeterKe:  If you actually read my initial comment, I have already tried to Chat with someone [..]

Please try again....money n' subscription concern, Please see Norton Support.
Thank you.

I guess they don't need to with so many people doing it for free. On phone now and she's struggling!

PeterKe,

I'm only a user like you and have seen many posts like yours which were answered by other users, but never commented by Norton, if memory serves me correctly.

Regards.

Also in my initial comment I note that the 255 characters allowed is wholly insufficient to describe my issue and I dread the thought of having to describe that to someone whose first language is likely not English.

If you actually read my initial comment, I have already tried to Chat with someone who hadn't got a clue and seemed to have little product knowledge. I will try to book a call but, from my experience I won't get very far.

Intelligent Norton person please respond.

PeterKe: What does it take to get an official response from Norton please???

Chat with Official Norton Support   ---- Call Official Norton Support

I'm not talking about other "reputable sources" , I 'm talking about Norton themselves. Regardless, if I am renewing through Norton and there is a significantly cheaper price through another official channel then, Norton should be making that sufficiently clear to customers at the time of renewal.

Buying from other reputable sources is usually cheaper than automatically renew with Norton, as peterweb has explained.
Furthermore, one should consider that Norton/Symantec sells its products through retail partners as well. Part of the agreement with those partners is that Norton/Symantec will not undercut the pricing of these partners. The partners in turn are free to set the price at whatever level they decide to, in accordance with their profit margins.
Symantec is aware of the users concern as this has been discussed many times on these forums.

So it's ok for Norton to charge me £69.99 for 5 devices but charge others £29.99 (£49.99) - absolute rubbish.

Could someone from Norton please respond.

If you have been using the renewal process with Norton, you will find that the cost is usually higher than purchasing a new product key from a reputable retailer. This seems to represent a convenience fee where the user does not have to bother shopping around for a better deal.

If you last renewed within the last 60 days, you can request a refund, and make a new purchase at a better price.
