Yesterday I wanted to update my Pale Moonbrowser from v11.01.to v12.0. I had the greatest difficulty in doing so as Norton File Insight said that it contained Suspicious.Cloud.7.F - freebl3.dll. I'm sure that this was partly due to the fact that, as yet, there are very few users and that it was allegedly a Heuristic Virus detection.
Eventually I was able to install the browser after uninstalling the version I already had and installing the new one, despite dire warnings from N IS 2012! NIS 2012 scanned the downloaded file and found no problems with it and the firewall popped up a couple of times recommending that I 'Always Allow' Pale Moon;therefore I believe this detection to be a false positive.
If you think that the file that you download is safe and think that it is marked as a threat by mistake. I would suggest you to report the same in the Norton False positive website mentioned below. So that the file can be looked on to and the file can be marked safe if it is.
Hi Dinesh Bhalaji, Thanks for your reply; I’ve reported this to the Norton False positive website as you suggested - thanks for the link. Like neigh-ho-ma, I downloaded the Pale Moon installer directly from their site and although I may have been online while installing the new version, I can’t really see why this would make a difference. Actually, I downloaded Pale Moon twice, firstly the 32-bit version, then the 64-bit version. The installers were downloaded and installed at different times on different laptops too. No scans, including those by NIS 2012 have shown anything to be wrong on either laptop. At least I remembered to update my signture to show the correct version of NIS 2012 today! Thanks both for your replies to my question. Madeline
I have today updated my Adobe CS6 software, and during installation, Norton 'file insight' advised me that it had removed a threat
as below.
Reading this thread I am a little confused. Can anyone clarify i fthis is a threat or not
Thanks
