Thank you for reaching out to Norton Family forum.
Norton Family, Windows does not have app blocking capability currently to prevent access of Edge browser.
We are currently working to support Norton Family browser extensions for Chromium Edge browser. We are planning to make this available with upcoming product updates. Until this is available, we recommend children to use the supported browsers(IE, Chrome and Firefox).
User has privileges on the extensions in their computer and cannot be controlled entirely. Hence tampering of browser extensions by the child cannot be prevented. We are exploring ways on how we could prevent a tamper of browser extensions.
Done! Back up again, and the shared group is back, see attached images. But, I will do nothing until Monday. I'll give it time to settle and update the types, etc...
Skoutariotis, I'm just a user like yourself. I was just comparing how my screen looked to what you posted. My knowledge of the group "shared" was just my observations from using the app. What is also confusing to me is how your group "shared" got deleted, since I can't find a way to delete it like I can the users. I agree with you something did get scrambled. Hope everything works correctly after your reset.
Skoutarotis I AM available AND watching the thread. WIPE all the existing data and totally reset to remove the old configuration from the cloud. If you don't the Core will download the previous settings and restore them. When you have the factory reset done, create your networks and password them. Then on your wired and wireless laptops/computers connect them to Core wifi/wired networks as applicable. They will NOT be assigned to any person at that time. They WILL show in the "People" area as "Shared Unlimited" BY DEFAULT. PLEASE SEE SCREENSHOT. All devices not having been assigned to a person will show there. If you then follow this guideline link below to setup parental controls you will have done things correctly. In the same area you click the "ADD" button to add a person and assign a specific device to that person and setup controls.
MannyT, thnx, but my guess is, there IS something scrambled in mine. I never had such screen & yes, I did create a people “shared” I figured it was wrong, but I have never known of a group “shared”! In regards to the link, I’m LOOKING for it & I thought you had one since you know so much about the group “shared”.
Thnx!
SoulAsylum, that’s how it WAS setup, but I never saw a group, neither did I assign a device to anyone & I DID set up the new people, never worked.
BTW, after restart shall I login as existing or new setup or no option with wipe? I done it already in the past, but I don’t recall, sorry!
Anyone can answer this is SoulAsylum is not avail, I’ll be doing it in an hour or so!
Thnx to all!
Skoutariotis When you factory reset the Core wipe all the data and settings to the Core so it will remove it from the Cloud. Perform a NEW setup. Doing the restore with the button or app will serve the same purpose. Just a note - If you want to reuse the passwords for your networks jot them down before doing the reset so you will have them for the setup.
One thing to remember after the setup is complete. When you connect a laptop or computer to the network is DOESN'T assign it to a specific person and will therefore go under People as "Shared". ALL unassigned devices will appear when you touch SHARED and appear in a listing. When you want to setup parental controls go to "People", add a person THEN assign a device to that person. Hope that helps. https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v118380545_core_en_us
If you notice my shared picture below it is not like your shared. Your has only one person as opposed to the one in my phone that has 2 persons. I think the difference is that you created a person called 'Shared' as compared to a group called 'Shared' and thus error for no shared group data. I don't know of a way to create the shared group unfortunately. Where did you see the link on the 'shared' that you mention? The picture didn't come out to good it has like a ghost effect. It should only be '2 persons' and it looks like '4 persons'.
Weird my shared user doesn't show up on main screen. I think it might be a good idea then to do a factory reset on the router and I would erase all settings and start from scratch. Something is not right unfortunately.
Ok, fixed. House phone is back, so is the iPod!
Also, the shared user is now showing up in people!
I don’t want to mess with that! But, I WILL try creating my child user & we’ll see…
Thnx MannyT
