Edge, on computer, majority of time, remains open from first open after boot to shut down, no matter how many times I open Edge. May be an Edge/Microsoft thing, seem to remember it changed on one of those MS updates that come in thru' the back door as opposed to an actual WUD.
Norton Password Manager from Microsoft store or from Chrome store? remains open no matter how many times you cycle Edge.

I have Firefox, when, if Vault is open when you close the browser, it automatically closes the Vault. Same happens on the old laptop (8.1) with Chrome where I assume this feature is inbuilt into the respective Norton extensions. With Edge, there is an option under Edge System to keep open background extensions & apps. I have mine turned off, yet the Vault generally remains open when I close Edge & then later re-open (good old Microsoft) although it used to close Vault once upon a time. Occasionally, closing Edge will actually log me out of the Vault, don't know why, no obvious reason, just happens randomly. Edge is my default browser so not a problem. With Background extensions & Apps turned on, Edge, itself does not fully close when you exit, various processes are still working in the background which cause various other issues (taking high CPU etc. for instance).
Note: Norton Password Manager 8.2.0.245 - Chrome store - updated June 20, 2024
as test: NPM vault remains unlock with Chrome cycle & Windows restart.
~ call Chrome 126.0.6478.115. NPM button red dot for a second...red dot clears...vault unlock
Robert Hazlett:
Over the course of a workday, I log in and out of several password protected websites.
Every time I log out, the vault closes behind me and I have to reopen it before I can log into the next site.
meaning, every time you log out from the last password protected website visited?
All: By default the N360 PWM will close itself when your browser is closed, the computer goes into sleep or hibernation modes. With the Edge you can do the following to allow Edge to run in the background after its closed:
To enable:
Click the three dots menu and choose "Settings"
On the Settings page click "System" on the left
On the System page, turn on "Continue running background apps when Microsoft Edge is closed"
On Chrome: Three points in the right side top > Setting > Show advanced settings>scroll down>system > continue running background apps when google chrome is closed
You cannot retrieve your vault password. The only help is when you are prompted for your vault password, you can click on Show Hint. If you still cannot remember your password, all you can do is reset the vault, which as you noted will delete the old vault. Then you should be able to restore your logins from backups that were made on your computer.
Just a small correction to the tutorial link - it states:
"To delete your Identity Safe vault, type in a wrong password three times, and then select click here."
What is actually required is:
To delete your Identity Safe vault, type in a different wrong password three times, and then select click here.
Using the same incorrect password three times will not trigger the reset.
Hope the above info helps you get through recreating your vault with a new password.
Yes, if more than 1 person is using your subscription, then each person can have a vault if they create an Account.. There might be another circumstance for having another Password Manager.
