How do I keep my password vault open? Over the course of a workday, I log in and out of several password protected websites. Every time I log out, the vault closes behind me and I have to reopen it before I can log into the next site.
mgirons:v8.1.2.71 installed thru' Norton - came with 360 install.
Were you to remove Norton Password Manager extension.
Do you know how to reinstall Norton Password Manager?
v8.1.2.71 installed thru' Norton - came with 360 install. Ideally, to remain open in Edge but that involves an Edge setting that does not close extensions & background tasks on exit, this takes up CPU/memory use by Edge in task manager but also some background tasks that I do not require and can cause various issues.
mgirons:Been rare random closing of vault all as described before. This morning installed July Microsoft patch Tuesday updates, now Vault closes on closing Edge but no actual Edge updates included - strange. Must admit it is inconvenient.
Norton Password Manager - Chrome store v8.2.0.309 or Microsoft store v8.1.2.71 ?
Do you want vault to remain open or to close on closing Edge?

Norton Password Manager locks (red dot) with Edge cycle
This morning, logged into Vault in Edge at about 6:45 am as I normally do. Must have opened/closed Edge 10-12 times this morning, 11:00 am still open, went back about 11:15 am, it had closed sometime during that 15 minutes. Could not find anything that may have triggered closure, Only items from Norton were auto LUD, Community Watch (not enrolled) & Insight Maintenance, all these timed few minutes before 11:15 am. ?
In Edge Settings under System & Performance there is an option 'Continue Running Background Extensions & Apps when when MS Edge is closed'. I have that de-ticked so should close the Vault when exiting, it used to but not now, only on rare occasions. With Edge closed, Task Manager reports it still taking up 200mb of CPU, does that indicate background tasks are still running?. Edge comes with an 'add-on' - MS Edge Webview2 Runtime which can affect settings. Like as at the beginning of the year, unable to 'Print To PDF - finally attributed to Webview2. Normally, that comes with Edge update, sometimes a stand alone update. To me, the fact Vault stays open is actually an Edge issue.
Norton Password Manager extension locks every time I close Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser
Your Norton Password Manager extension will get locked every time you close your Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser. This is because the latest Norton Password Manager extension is developed using the Manifestv3 platform.
Earlier versions of Norton Password Manager extension was built on Manifestv2 Platform.
[...]If an extension migrates to Manifestv3 platform, it cannot leverage running on background capability of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser.
So, when all the open instances of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browsers are closed, then your Norton Password Manager vault will be locked. Re-launching the browsers will require you to unlock your vault using your vault password.

When I had to do complete Reset that was needed after computer crashed out & would not boot. Reset took computer to 'Out of Box' settings which only included any MS apps that came out of box. Had to install Norton, MS Office, Adobe Reader, Google Earth, Samsung Smart Switch, Gadwin Print Screen, Firefox etc. Edge was pre-installed as part of Windows install which came as part of resetting. NPWM & safe Web were only there after Norton install. Only have Chrome on laptop - same there - long time ago when first installed Norton - those 2 extensions were there. Those two extensions are the only 2 I want, get a pop-up from Norton every now & then that I have not used all extensions - don't want them. Have never needed to obtain from Chrome Store or from MS Store as already part of Norton.
NPWM 8.1.2.71 - Norton safe web 3.22.0.23 - Edge 126.0.2592.68 - auto updated yesterday.
On the rare occasion that have to do NRnR, always do full remove & then a fresh full install.
Hello @mgirons
mgirons:
Norton fresh install did came with NPWM extensions for Edge & Firefox already installed with NPWM manager icon in toolbar, ready to run, just had to sign into account then to vault.
Never have had to install NPWM or Safe Web as separate installs ever since NPWM appeared -
re: Norton fresh install.
Do you uninstall from Apps & features with "keep my settings".
Do you run Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool? with Remove Only?
Do you clean install? fwiw ~ my clean install [here]
NPM & Safe Web auto-install with Edge & Firefox? What about Chrome?
May be Firefox thingy. I have Firefox installed...but, have not used long time.
I'll have to remove Norton extensions from Edge & Firefox and test...next Norton 360 install to see whether NPM & Safe Web extensions auto-install. I've had em' installed for so long. Maybe, I'm not recalling correctly. Thanks
mgirons:
Edge, on computer, majority of time, remains open from first open after boot to shut down, no matter how many times I open Edge. May be an Edge/Microsoft thing, seem to remember it changed on one of those MS updates that come in thru' the back door as opposed to an actual WUD.
re: Edge
Norton Password Manager from Microsoft store or from Chrome store? remains open no matter how many times you cycle Edge. What's NPM version#? What's Edge version#? Thanks
mgirons:Never have had to install NPWM or Safe Web as separate installs ever since NPWM appeared - in them days you could also access it direct from the main GUI. Don't forget I'm in UK - we always have to do things differently - just to be awkward.
Hmm!?...you've never had to install NPM or Safe Web browser extensions.
NPM & Safe Web were auto-installed with Norton 360 install?
How about Norton Safe Search &or Norton Home Page browser extensions?
Hmm!?...head scratch
Thanks

found stock pic = Norton Safe Search & Safe Web were integrated into the Norton Security Toolbar
I was just reminiscing about all the times Norton Identity Safe/Toolbar vanished with Firefox updates.

When you've installed Norton 360 on a new machine. Norton Password Manager extension was auto-installed?...and after a computer Reset = meaning Windows OS fresh install? Norton extension/s were auto-installed?
Hmm...head scratch.
I know from recent memory.
Norton 360 install/uninstall/reinstall did not touch already installed Norton browser extensions.
Norton 360 install/uninstall/reinstall did not auto-install Norton browser extension/s.
Maybe, on new machine with Norton 360 install. Norton prompts user to install Norton extensions.
I know from recent memory. With Norton 360 version update. Norton prompts me to install Norton extensions.
I know from recent Norton 360 uninstall...running Windows Security as test. Norton extensions remained.
I know from recent Norton 360 install. Norton extensions not already installed...were not auto-installed.
I had the same Norton extension before Norton 360 uninstall... as after Norton 360 install.
Sorry, I do not recall (for several years) Norton 360 install...auto-installing browser extensions...other than years back in the good ol' days.

Norton Password Manager button populates, in modern browsers, at the address bar.
Not as a toolbar, under the address bar, as years back.
If you have a Norton toolbar, under the address bar. I'd luv to see pic.
