Hello,
LiveUpdates updated and it said there was a new patch available, so I clicked the Apply Now button, but the patch won't apply. I tried restarting my laptop, but it still won't apply the patch. Help please!

What error message are you getting that the patch did not apply? If you can post a screenshot of the error.
Instructions to post screenshots can be found here

There's no error message. I guess I'm assuming the patch isn't being apply. Most of the time when there is a patch available and I click the apply now button, there is a display window that says the patch is being downloaded and being apply. However, when I clicked the apply now button, nothing happens. Also, when I run live update, it keeps saying that there is a patch available even though I supposedly already apply the patch.
Try LiveUpdate once more, apply the patch, and another restart of your computer. With a Windows system, more than one restart can be needed to complete updates.
I tried that, and it still won't apply.
What version of 360 are you using? Click Support - About
Do you now or have you ever had another security program on your computer? If so, you will have to remove it with the removal tool for that program.
I have version 20.4.0.40. I did use another program last year, but it's already uninstall.

Thanks for the info - peterweb will now want to know which program it was and if in fact you used the removal toll for that product in addtion to uninstalling it from the Control Panel. We'll help you find the removal tool to run once we know the product name.
It was Sophos and I think I just went to the programs and features and clicked on the uninstall button.
This looks like a removal tool link for Sophos - not exactly the link I perfer, but I canl;t seem to find any others at the moment.
Since you already removed it via Control Panel - you should be able to just run the tool and see if it helps.
Thanks for the Sophos link Yank. I too could not find a direct link.
I used the Sophos removal tool, but the patch still won't apply.
Well thuanxx, IMHO it may be time to do a bit of cleanup and then reinstall N 360 and see whathappens ith the patch. It is possible that the Patch could be corrupted and it continues to try to pull the Patch from your temp files. Please try the following:
Please open Run by pressing windows key + R -> devmgmt.msc -> View Show
Hidden devices -> open Non-Plug and Play Drivers-> Maximize the Screen
If you have a identity safe data back it up ->
Go to Control panel uninstall N 360 ->select the second option to
completely uninstall ->restart -> Run Norton Removal Tool -> Restart ->
Go to the screenshot page -> if you find NAVENG, NAVEX15, Norton Antivirus settings manager, starting from Symantec
Data Store to SymEvent (entries starting with Sym) ->right click on them
click uninstall -> For the Restart prompts select no -> Go to Program files
if you find Norton Folder delete it -> Goto Run ->type temp ->Delete all
the files in there -> Run -> %temp% ->delete all ->Now Restart the PC -
>Install Norton 360 ->Run Live Update until you get no updates found
message ->restart PC
Let us know how it went for you.
If you need links for N 360 (let us know which edition - Standard or Premiere) download and or the NRT let us know and we'll supply them.
I just had some questions before I do the following steps:
Where do I go to run the norton removal tool?
Can I reinstall N360 by using the CD?
The NRT can be found here: Select the one for N 360 and the instuctions will be included on the next page.
You can use a CD, but you will spend a lot of time running LiveUpdate and rebooting to get it up to the current version. I would suggest you use the following link thatmatches your edition of N 360. These links will save you quite a bit of updating as they are more current than you CD version is.

or
http://norton.com/latestn360p (Premiere Edition)
Please keep us posted.
Okay, thank you. Also, I think I'm using the N360 Standard edition, but is there a place I can go to look to make sure that's right?
It should be under Support > About from the Mainpage (same place you find the version number).
The Premiere comes with 25 GB of online backup storage while the standard comes with 5 GB.
So I’m at the run temp part and it won’t let me delete everything, it says this action can’t be completed because the file is open in WmiPrvSE.exe
Actually never mind, I was able to delete it
Now I’m at the run %temp% part and one of the files can’t be deleted because it’s open in windows explorer
