Hi.  I'm interested in some info about the PC Power Boost Service.

1st:  Does someone have to be present at the computer during the scans or once you initiate the service will the technician on the other end continue without further input from me?

2nd:  Approximately how long does this process take?  I realize that this will vary with HDD size and the amount of files on the drive but I would appreciate an estimate of the amount of time for an 80 GB drive.

3rd:  If I read this correctly, this is a one time service that must be used within 30 days of purchase, not a service that can be used repeatedly for up to 30 days.

TIA for the info.  The site does not have all that much info on this service and a search of the site for power boost turns up nothing.

Roberta

Hello roberta,

Don't even bother with PC Power Boost.  It took well over an hour, because the guys doing it must've gone on breaks.   I was tranferred between three people all of whom had control of my computer.  After I was transferred to the second guy I received a phone call from the first guy saying he lost his connection and would like me to reconnect.  I told him that someone else was controlling my computer and he was shocked and said hold on.  He had no idea someone else took over!

They disabled windows defender, adjusted my performance settings so that graphics sucked, and to compensate for that they changed my desktop theme to Vista Classic.  When it was time to reboot he chose to click "do not show this message again" which has no purpose for performance but I like to be reminded of the fact, well I guess thats out the window now.  Afte the reboot he said in the chat window, "you can check your speed now".  Well to let you all know ITS THE SAME!!!!

All they did was mess around with stuff, they didn't even know where to look for certain programs or configs.  They'd click something then the exit out of it really quickly, then they wouldn't do nothing for ten minutes.  Total waste of money, but if you do decide to go ahead with it which I highly recommend that you don't.  Watch out for; Vinay Agarwal, Hardik Y Shah (who's the supervisor by the way), and William Karriappa.  It's fair to say I'm highly considering switching over to ESET as Norton seems unprofessional.

Hi Roberta,

Great questions; our web presence for the Norton Premium Services is rather small today--but look for more in the future! :)

To answer your questions directly:

1) For any of our services (including PC Power Boost), you must be present for about 5-10 minutes at the beginning of the call, and that's it. From there, a Norton Agent will use remote assistance technology to perform all of the remaining actions--based on your shared discussion at the beginning of the call--and completely tune up your PC without your presence.

However, many Norton Agents like to call back our customers--you!--to follow-up and make sure that the job they did was up to the level of quality that you'd expect from Norton. And we know that sometimes it's just nice to ask someone a few technical questions while you've got them on the phone, so feel free to do that. :)

In any case, if you'd rather not receive the call back, or if you'd prefer to stay on the line the whole time with the Norton Agent, just ask--they're here to work with you to find the right solution.

2) It's tough to accurately estimate this, because we treat each computer and customer differently (based on individual needs and requests). It's fair to assume that the process will take 30 minutes or more, but very rarely exceeds 60 minutes.

3) That is correct--it is a one-time service delivered within 30 days of the time of purchase. If you have any questions about your PC Tune-up within those 30 days, however, please do call us back--in most cases, we can answer any quick questions you have free of charge, or even or put the "finishing touches" on a service that was performed previously if you feel something was lacking.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this post or message me directly. Thanks, Roberta!
