pcAnywhere

Hey guys and gals,

I recently bought the download version of pcAnywhere. Upon installing and setting up the program on the 2 computers it will be used on for work, I'm unable to get any connection at all between the two of them. I tried calling Symantec's tech support, they told me that ports on my router weren't open and to call my ISP. I called my ISP and they said that the ports weren't blocked by them at all.

I've tried looking at tutorials, I've tried google, I just can NOT find any information with an easy to understand step by step instruction on how to connect to another computer. I thought it would be as easy as entering in the IP address of the computer I want to remotely connect to....I thought wrong. So $200 and 2 days later, I'm stll unable to use the program. Does anyone have the time to walk me through this process of configuring pcAnywhere? I'd really appreciate it.

Spence

Hey there.  Quick question regarding pcAnywhere.  It features:

Multiple monitor support allows you to specify a monitor to view or to scroll among all attached monitors on the host computer.

Will this software actually allow the remote computer to view what is being displayed on the host computer monitor?  Reason is, if someone had a vga splitter and was viewing something other than the signal that the host computer is actually sending to the monitor.

Thanks!

Thanks for the helpful response.  So, there is no way to connect to see what is actually displayed on the host monitor, only what the host system is sending to it's monitor?  Thanks again.

If the monitor display is not coming from the system it seems to me it would be impossible for the system to know whats on the monitor.

Lets say I have a physical switch between my computer and monitor that allows the video input to come from my TV.

The computer would not know whats being displayed, it would be the same as if I unplugged my monitor from the computer and attached it to my TV.

On the other hand, If I connected the TV output to my video card, that signal would be going through my system and I could watch TV through pcanywhere.

Dave, you nailed it!  That's exactly what I wanted to know.  Thank you.

Moved to own thread for better exposure.
