Personal Information Protection

Personal Information Protection question: this is a very good feature, but is there a way to enter more then the 4 pieces of info allowed?

For example, it allows for a phone number to be blocked, but is there a way to block more then 1 phone number?

thanks for the help!

I would like to expand on the information that needs to be monitored. Not only are second phone number needed but also:

School names

School Mascots

city

first and last names

There is a really long list of information that could be monitored.

Hi nealrm,

Just want to make sure I understand you correctly, OnlineFamily.Norton blocks any attempt by the child (be it accidental or on purpose) to send any personal information over the Internet. So, is it your intention to block school names....first and last name?

Thanks,

Katie

Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but this does not seem to be very effective. I turned it on under 'Profile' and entered my child's email address and school, and you already have his year of birth.

I logged into his email (gmail), and it was completely able to send me the name of his school. There was also no notification sent.

I then went to the NY times home page to register for an account. I was able to use the 'restricted' email to make an account. I was then able to enter a fake year of birth. All uploaded to that site without a hitch. I also never received any notification.

Im not sure about others, but for me this is one of the most important parts of Family Online security. Its the primary reason I tried Norton. Young kids can be trusting, and its important to limit the amount of personal information they give out on the internet.

I would love to hear if Im doing something wrong, or my expectations are wrong.

Thanks,

Thanks for the clarification. Is there anyway to toggle that default so that it also works for https sites? Seems that pretty much any modern website that a child would register on would use https, thus severly limiting the usefulness of the Personal Information Protection.

Thanks,
