I’ve seen mention online of a system tray icon for Norton Secure VPN.
But when I use Norton Secure VPN from within Norton 360 Premium (which includes Norton Secure VPN), I don’t see any separate icon for Norton Secure VPN (in Windows 11).
Presumably, that icon only shows if you’ve purchased Norton Secure VPN as a separate product.
Please add a separate icon for Norton Secure VPN (when it’s run from within Norton 360) which indicates when the VPN is active. AFAICT, you need to open “My Norton” in order to see if/when the VPN is active.
I’m not the first person to suggest this. It was suggested in April 2023 in the now-archived post Add Marker to Norton 360 VPN in System Tray.
Thanks.

Hi Russell , thanks for bringing this matter up. I have had the same question since Norton promoted their VPN.
I do have a seperate VPN but would happily continue with Norton VPN if it had such an Icon in the system tray. My current VPN has an icon currently visible in the system tray which changes colour once it is active and reverts to white if the VPN disconnects. This makes usage of the VPN more assuring than having to go into Norton app and searching to make sure it’s connected.

You’re welcome caribman.
If Norton isn’t able to add a separate VPN icon to the system tray at this time, maybe they could either:
-
- Include a “badge” on the current icon which show if the VPN is ON
OR:
-
- Add a “Turn ON VPN” / “Turn OFF VPN” menu item to the context menu which comes up when you right-click the current icon. I think even that would be a big help!

Totally Agree Russell-J,
I would prefer option 1 although option 2 would be better than having to go into the My Norton app etc. each time to turn it on. My main preference is being able to tell if the VPN is on or off ‘at a glance’ in the system tray.
Cheers
