Please help me with a MSIVX rootkit

I appear to have an MSIVX rootkit and I'm hoping to get your help with fixing this.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate with service pack 1.  My Symantec product is Norton Internet Security 2009.

When I try to open IE I get an error message as follows:  "globalroot\systemroot\system32\MSIVXetoswfqlxpslxpmovjfscqwaeiylcdjx.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

I am unable to launch a scan from NIS -- it seems to start but doesn't scan any files no matter how long I wait.  I booted the computer from the NIS disk and launched a scan and it reported that suspicious.vundo.2 was detected and removed, but that has not fixed the problem.  Other symptoms: I cannot wipe free disk space with Window Washer, I cannot select boot in safe mode from MSCONFIG, and I cannot launch malwarebytes.

Reading the forums, I have downloaded Avenger and have it waiting to go if needed.  I also downloaded GMER and it identified the MSIVX rootkit.  I have tried to attach the log to this post.

I am a novice - very overwhelmed by this - everything I have done so far has been via my own internet research.  Thanks so much for your help!!!!
