Hi All,
I posted a message with an image and noticed a couple of things:
- I can only post images already hosted online. I understand the concern, but it’d be nice to allow people to upload a (small) image directly on the board.
- The interface requres that I put the image size in. Auto-detect would be nice
- I submitted the message and got this warning:
- Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied.
I didn’t insert anything myself. There must be something faulty either in the code that gets automatically inserted or in the validation scheme. (it might be because I selected the image to be aligned left in the UI for the picture)

PS: and here, I pasted the warning exactly as I had copied it. It showed up in the same fint, with the same red background. I submitted it and got hte same warning again. The text was converted to plain text, indented, with a bullet (I italicized it).
PPS: well when I italicize it, I get the warning again. Apparently, I can’t apply any sort of formatting.
It looks like it's an issue with the WebKit-based browsers. I just tried with Camino (Mozilla-based) and I'm not seeing this.

The ordered lists have a problem with the alignement. The numbers appear slignetly outside of the margins, on the left.
I was also wondering about the "Paste from Word" command. First, the pane says:
Use CTRL+V on your keyboard to paste the text into the window.
On a Mac, it's Command+V. The message is therefore not relevant to all users. I have'nt tested it on my Mac yet, but ' wondering what it would do for Word text that it wouldn't do from any other formatted text…
I just confirmed the HTML formatting issue with Safari 3.1 on MacOS X 10.5.2 (I guess it would be the same in Safari in Windows)

I got that on the message I just posted with the event viewer paste-in.
Couldn't see anything altered or wrong.
<<

Ah, you are right – I did have the Event Viewer report indented.
The other thing I’ve had is a change of font and size like the quote I pasted in above from your message. I had this happen partway through a sentence of my own.
It also has forced a CR/LF before and after the quote and won’t allow me to delete it. AH – It’s in a frame for some reason!
Just got:
- Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied.
and it changed the font etc of your quote – the editor does a weird dance when you paste something in like that and it decides to change it!
Guys
Please keep in mins that this is only a beta format for a forum.
These things will be taken in consideration for final format
Of course, but isn't the point precisely to report problems now so that they can be fixed during the beta cycle??

Or did you mean On Course? <gdr>
Could you clarify for me what at present, if anything, we can do with images? I've seen one as part of a message but when I tired to paste one in that I'd copied from my image editor, Paste as a mouse or CTRL + V action was not allowed. I must admit that I did not try the Paste icon in the toolbar -- I'd forgotten about it -- but I've just tried it and it doesn't take the image in.

Well you can use the Image button in the TinyMCE toolbar to link to an image hosted elsewhere. That's about it as far as I can tell..... THere is no way to have the forum use a local image (pasting it or uploading it).

Which presumably means that if it’s on my PC that readers will be SOL if my computer is not on? – it’s OFF overnight.
Nope, it means that if it's on you PC, it won't make it on the post. It has to be hoted behind an http:// link.

Then I guess we better hope they provide one, like Prospero does for Compuserve.

I can see now that the indetation was even removed when the post actually (and finally) got posted... There is definitively something weird with formatting.
