Power Eraser don't work

It seemed that NS Power Eraser don't work if I choose a scan with system restarting (Scan For Risk). PE appears at the task bar after system restart but it's stucked and nothing happens. Other scans with PE works fine. Who has the same with PE on Windows 10?

I had that same issue with internet connection and trying to connect 'on time'.  What I did was changed my internet connection to 'connect automatically on start'.  Then I am already connected when it runs upon restart.

Hope this helps.

It's not a big problem but I paid for this product and have the right to expect that it work fine.

Hello

Why are you messing around with NPE in the first place? It is a very powerful tool that is supposed to be used only under the supervision of a malware removal expert.

If you suspect that you have some malware which your Norton product won't clean up, I would recommend that you go to one of the free malware removal sites recommended by the community. They can help with windows issues also.

Please see this link for an up to date description of these sites plus the addition of a newly listed site formed by one of our successful malware remover users who unfortunately has passed away. That site is still being run by a good expert who happens to be one of the other Gurus.  The new site is listed first in this link.

Sorry, I was not clear.  I was asking whether login & manual connection was by ISP option / requirement..?    I'm not recalling login & manual connection with my ISP.

I connect through the fiber optic cable. And yes, I use  Internet Service Provider... I have login and password for my connection, saved in my sysystem and it seemed that PE modify this password, so I should delete it and type again. I sure there won't be something horrible if PE won't do this autofixing and just will wait untill user connect to the network. That's what it tells me by the way: "Norton Power Eraser has successfully restored internet connection. Hosts file and NPE proxy settings may have been modified." After that I've lost an access to the network...

Vitalik93: I have login and password for my internet [..] users like me with manual connection type [..]

Sorry, login net connection never occurred to me.   Is manual connection as per ISP..?

Ok, I unchecked this option and PE don't enable autodetecting of proxy. But there is one issue that still persist - when my system lauched after restart PE tells me that I don't have internet connection and started to fix it (I didn't connect to the internet at time manually). After fixing I couldn't get an access to any site and my provider telll me that I use wrong password for my connection (I have login and password for my internet). I tried to delete password saved in my system and only then I could connect to Internet. Symantec definitely should remove this internet autofixing from PE so users like me (with manual connection type) had no such a problems with this product. It would be much better if PE will just wait untill I connect to the internet without autofixing something.

Thanks I’ll try it later and write here a result.

Hello

If you are using IE, go to Internet Options>Connections>Local Area Network (LAN)Settings>LAN settings>check off Automatically Detect Settings. Then OK out of it and Apply.

Thanks.

I don't know why it enables "automatically detect setings" in proxy but I think it's not a normal thing.

What this setting allows is for NPE to use proxy settings you may have set up on your computer. If you have not set anything up, it does not use any proxy.

It scan but sometimes it's not. I see that it stucked sometimes in task bar. Also this situation with proxy settings - I don't know why it enables "automatically detect setings" in proxy but I think it's not a normal thing.

Ok, I've reinstalled Norton today using Unistall Tool.  During this autofixing it enables "Automatically detect settings" in proxy.

Okay, my net connect occurs before desktop.
And does your NPE now scan with system restart ?

Ok, I've reinstalled Norton today using Unistall Tool. After installation  an "Automatically detect setting"  in proxy settings was enabled again. I think it happens because of my Internet connection type. I use fiber optic cable on my PC and I should connect to the Internet each time after  my system starts. NPE requires an internet connectiom after sytem start so if I don't connect to the Internet on time it will begin an autofixing of Internet connection. During this autofixing it enables "Automatically detect settings" in proxy.

> try stand-alone NPE <here>

I’ve tried it already. But it still enables this option.

try Use Default Settings > Apply22.8 Proxy Configure.png

Power Eraser also enables "automatically detect settings" in proxy settings. Is that normal thing that this option will always be enabled?

We'll need reply from Community member with W10AU or try refresh Norton install....> Norton Remove & Reinstall tool

Does Norton otherwise appear as normal.  Do you run W10 Fast Startup On.
~~ my vote is NRnR tool.
