Precautionary steps before installing Norton Antivirus software on your pc?

My question is to simple Before installing NORTON  antivirus there IS any precautionary steps?

I know that Norton Software is computer software and designed to detect, prevent, and remove malware infections on
computing devices, networks and IT systems.

I want simple help.

If there was an earlier other brand antivirus on your computer, also make sure you run the Removal tool of that brand (f.i. McAfee) to remove the latest remnants. Just search Google with brandname and removal.

How certain is the need to log on to system using Administrator account?

As you note, you can install Norton from a non Admin account, but you will probably be prompted by UAC for an admin password. Unless as plb4333 notes, you have only the one account that is by default an admin account.

The use of an admin account will give you access to Norton Settings, which standard account users do not have. With the admin user, you can go through the Settings to ensure you have things set the way you want.

All windows PC's, XP and up have Administrator accounts. The default account is admin rights, even if no user account is created. When there's no password used in user profile, this doesn't take away anything from admin rights. Hope this helps. :)

How certain is the need to log on to system using Administrator account?  I have been using and did install Norton Security and earlier forms to a couple of Windows Vista computers - one of them with no account; just turn on the machine and Windows starts on its own without my using any password to get myself through.  No trouble with Norton Security on my machine.  ( I have not tried this in Windows 10.)

Also, if you suspect you have malware on your PC, it should be removed prior to installing any security software.

Hello samirajoly. There aren't any precautionary steps to take to install Norton. Suggestions are: 1-Ensure you do NOT have another antivirus software suite installed, if so remove it and reboot. 2-Ensure you are logging into your system using an admin account.
