Issue abstract: VPN starts automatically on home network

Detailed description: This version of N360 insists on starting up the VPN on my home network, which in turn disables access to my printer and NAS. How do I prevent this? It’s a RPA.

Product & version number: Norton 360 24.12.9725

OS details: Win10 22H2 19045.5247

What is the error message you are seeing? None

The ability to set the VPN not to run with Windows start should be in this area. These are screenshots from a previous build of 24.xx version before I reverted.

We’re hoping Norton publishes Norton 360 v24 User Guide

@bjm Thanks for the updated version screenshots.

Same issue here! Where do I set my home network as “safe”. Using the VPN severely limits my access to websites, at times. Help!

Open the 360 app and click on Security on the left. Then click on Advanced Security and then click on Network. Hover your cursor over the Smart Firewall section and then click on the gear icon that will appear. Click on the Network tab. For the Connected to network, click the Private/Public network to change your current setting. Close your 360 and restart your computer and test. Be sure you use Restart and not Shutdown and startup again.

Thank you! So many secret ways to get to that setting :-). Time will tell if the VPN engages when I’m online. Thanks!!!

hi @peterweb
Do you actually mean I should change my current network setting of ‘private’ to ‘public’ in order to prevent norton to automattically launch VPN when I’m working at home via my provider’s router?

Not necessarily. The suggestion above was to test the behaviour with a different public/private setting to what you currently have to see if it helped with the issue. The first thing to check would be the VPN settings noted in posts above.
