Problem activating Norton Utilities 16

I am having the same problem here with the activation of Norton Utilities 16. Exact same error message too.

Intially, I was responding to another user whom has the exact problem as mine but someone move my response to a its own thread.  Anyway, the problem I am having is with the activation of Norton Utilites 16.   The message I am getting after entering the activation code, name and email is the following:

 

Product activation was unsuccessful. Please verify that
your activation code and email address is entered
correctly, and that you are connected to the Internet.

 

I am connect to the internet and the acttivation code was pasted from the email so what could be the problem?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Unlike NIS and NAV that are subscription based, Norton Utilities is version specific.

You need a version 16 key, check your email it should say what version the key is for.

I am using Windows 7 and the product activation key is for Norton Utilities 16.  I checked with Tech support to make sure the key was for version 16.  Hopefully Symantec does not have the version keys mixed up.

I forgot to mention that the conformation email with the product activation key does not mention the version number..

I'm a little confused.  You have contacted Tech Support, yet you still haven't activated NU16?

 

Do you mean you have contacted Norton?  Some site profess to do support for Norton.  Norton Customer Support should be able to check and fix activation issues for you fairly quickly.

I actually contacted Norton Tech support directly and after confirmation of activation keys and order number, they recommned I go to PC tools tech support for further help.  I will contact them tonight after work.

I'm sorry, but I'm still confused.

 

If you are trying to activate Norton Utilities 16 you should not need to contact PC Tools.  Is the product you have Norton Utilities or a PC Tools program?  If you have NU16 the support you need is from http://www.norton.com/chat.  Live Chat is often the quickest.

Hello Skreddy,

Since my last post, I have uninstalled Norton Utilities 16 and have received a refund on my online purchase by Symantec.   Besides the activation issue, Windows 7 did not run as snappy as it did before running the default scan.  I was running NU 15 for a long time on my old XP machine and figured I would give NU 16 a try on the new Windows 7 machine. May give NU 16 another try in the future.
