I have a 3-PC version of Norton Internet Security Version 2008 (NIS 2008).
Norton Internet Security Version 2009 (NIS 2009) was released this fall.
After the release of NIS 2009, my NIS 2008 subscription was about to expire and the software offered a renewal. I agreed and the renewal process occurred (on or about 10/23/08).
I expected, since NIS 2009 had previously been released, that my renewal would consist of a one-year subscription to NIS 2009. I was surprised to see that the renewal was simply another year of the superseded NIS 2008 – not a year of the current NIS 2009. (I show 300+ days remaining on the renewal.)
So I purchased a 3-PC version of NIS 2009. It installed correctly, after first removing the older NIS 2008, on my other two machines but did not install NIS 2009 on the original machine. It identified the existing copy of NIS 2008, removed it and installed the software. However, it installed NIS 2008 – FROM A NIS 2009 CD!
I then used Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs to explicitly remove NIS 2008. Using the NIS 2009 CD I installed the software and again NIS 2008 was installed from the NIS 2009 CD.
I then used the Norton Removal Tool to completely remove all Norton software (Norton System Works was present as well). Using the NIS 2009 CD I installed the software for a third time and again NIS 2008 was installed from the NIS 2009 CD.
HOW DO I GET NIS 2009 TO INSTALL ON THIS MACHINE FROM THE NIS 2009 CD?
