Just downloaded NIS 2009 ver 16.5.0.135 on friday (4/17), loaded it up, as well as Norton Utilities. Ran a scan, ran Utilities, and then ran a defrag over night. Went to restart Sat morning, and system wouldn't reboot. I was stuck on a black screen between The windows load screen, with the progress bar at the bottom, and the blue account login screen. Just sat there. Hit restart button on PC, and went in through safe mode. Ran another scan, no problem found. Tried to restart again, and still stuck on black screen. So, I figured I messed something up in the registry with a change I made with Utilities, so I did a XP repair reload, got reloaded, and then went to install IE8, and the problem reoccured. Went into safe mode again, and removed both NIS and Utilities, ran reboot, and everything was back to normal. So, I reinstalled NIS 2009, and did a reboot, stuck in black screen again. Began to think it was a IE8 issue, so I unloaded IE8 and went back to IE6, no change, still black screen. Unloaded NIS in safe mode, and rebooted perfectly. Any ideas?
Windows XP service pack 3, IE8, AMD 3200+ 2.0 GHz processor.
